2010 Wild Card Weekend Wrap Up

Who would have thunk it?!?!?!?

New Orleans @ Seattle - At least I was right about the best way for the Seahawks to win and they pretty much did it.  Run the ball (Lynch had 19 carries for 131 yards, 1 TD) and limit Hasselbeck's throws (22 of 35 for 272 yards, 4 TDs and 1 INT).  Brees (39 of 60 for 404 yards, 2 TDs) was able to still throw the ball all over the place, but the Saints defense let him down.  The Seahawks get the Bears next, and even Hasselbeck was excited that they get the Bears.  I think his opinion will change after the game. Inquisitive Mind 0 - 1 for the week

New York Jets @ Indianapolis Colts - Yes, this game is over, but no one, and I mean no one actually has said this yet, but the Jets 'won by a foot'.  (crickets)  There's irony there, gotta be.  Manning (18 of 26 for 225 yards, 1 TD) looked like he needed more help and I know he liked other matchups on the field, but you HAVE to throw to Reggie Wayne more than twice.  I don't care who's covering him.  Mark Sanchez (18 of 31 for 189 yards, 1 INT) was horrible, but the running game saved him.  He should thank LT (16 carries for 82 yards, 2 TDs) and the defense for their trip to New England.  Inquisitive Mind 0 - 2 the week.

Baltimore @ Kansas City - The Ravens are back.  They were able to throw the ball to people other than Derrick Mason (1 catch, 11 yards).  Houshmandzadeh (1 catch, 28 yards), Heap (10 catches, 108 yards), and Boldin (5 catches, 64 yards, 1 TD) joined the party and the Ravens made quick work of the Chiefs.  As bad as Sanchez was for the Jets, Cassel (9 of 18 for 70 yards, 3 INTs) was even worse.  My biggest question is why stop trying to run the ball after you had some success against the Ravens early?  Yes, Charles fumbled, but you have Thomas Jones too.  Total domination.  Next up Steeler-nation.  Inquisitive Mind 1 - 2 for the week

Green Bay @ Philadelphia - Why are people blaming Vick (20 of 36 for 292 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 8 carries for 32 yards, 1 TD) for this loss?  I know he stood up and took the blame, but he wasn't kicking and Andy Reid is not the best play caller with the game on the line.  The Eagles defense gave this one away, because they couldn't stop Rodgers (18 of 27 for 180 yards, 3 TDs) and a rookie running back, Starks (23 carries for 123 yards).  Even with the Eagles playing as badly as they did, they still had a chance to win the game at the end.  A sad way to end this great turn around season and I really wanted to see what would happen when Vick returned to Atlanta.  Maybe next year.  Inquisitive Mind 1 - 3 for the week

Bad week, but I'm not sure many people picked these games right.  Let's try again next week in the Divisional Playoffs.
