NFL Week 8 Picks

What I learned last week (in Fantasy Football) is never give up, never ever give up. I was only up about 7 points going into Monday night and the team I was facing had the Giants defense playing on Monday night. I just knew I lost, but hung on to win and take my record to 3-4 for the year. But, this isn't about Fantasy Football, so let me get back to it.

I want a perfect week.

Houston @ Buffalo - This is probably going to be a wet game and I have no confidence in the Bills. They have a good running game, but so do the Texans. Let's go with the visitors. Winner - Texans.

Cleveland @ Chicago - (Joe it was great talking with you this week and I agree with you) The Bears are in trouble because they can't seem to do anything right on the offensive line. Olin Kreutz is getting killed and that hurts the running game. It's going to be wet and the Bears defense hasn't had 'one' of those games yet. Winner - Bears.

Seattle @ Dallas - I don't think the Cowboys are that good. I don't trust Romo and they get a Seahawks team that's beat up on the defensive side of the ball. Part of me says go with the Cowboys because they have shown that their defense is starting to get it right. I can see the Seahawks keeping up in what I expect to be a shootout, but I digress. Winner - Cowboys.

St. Louis @ Detroit - This is the game the Rams need, a chance to really win. Stafford and (Calvin) Johnson are back. That doesn't bode well for the Rams. Winner - Lions.

Denver @ Baltimore - At Baltimore, that's the rub. The Ravens defense has, let's face it, sucked over the past two weeks. Is this the week they turn it around and make Kyle Orton look like the QB that many of us thought he was? I like the Ravens at home, they play very well there. The defense has to play or they won't win a shootout. Winner - Ravens.

San Francisco @ Indianapolis - Alex Smith will make this game interesting. Peyton Manning will make it a walk in the park for the Colts. Winner - Colts.

Miami @ New York Jets - Miami won Round 1. Can the Jets stop a gimmick offense? Will they make good on their coaches claims? Tough game to pick. I don't think the Dolphins are that good, but they play well enough to give themselves a chance to win most weeks. Go with the home team. Winner - Jets.

New York Giants @ Philadelphia - Well, maybe the Eagles can do better than the Phillies. The Giants are coming off of two bad outings and this is a battle in the NFC East that normally is exciting. No Westbrook for the Eagles (or if he does, someone should be held accountable for putting him on the field. If I'm Andy Reid and I have any doubts, sit him at least a week). Tough game for the Eagles at home, but Donovan will find a way. Winner - Eagles.

Jacksonville @ Tennessee - What took them so long to start VY? I mean you are 0-6 and you're debating with the owner about starting VY? Let's just say that Jeff Fisher just wants to punish this kid for walking away from the team last year. Fisher, start the kid and pray for your job. Winner - Titans.

Oakland @ San Diego - Ok Chargers, you see your destiny right in front of you. This is the closest thing to a guaranteed win. You get the Raiders at your home. I'm looking for complete domination. Winner - Chargers.

Carolina @ Arizona - For some reason I think that Jake Delhomme doesn't make the plane back home after this game. I'm thinking that the Panthers leave him after he throws about 2 INTs. The Cardinals need this one after that big win against the Giants last week to keep the momentum rolling. Winner - Cardinals.

Minnesota @ Green Bay - THE GAME OF THE WEEK. The Vikings won Round 1. The Vikings can't win this year with Favre throwing 51 times. Just not going to work. The Vikings have to find a way to get AP loose. I want Favre in the 20-25 attempts range. Winner - Vikings.

Atlanta @ New Orleans - This will be an entertaining game if you like points. The Saints are for real and I have no indication that they are going to stop anytime soon. What's the over/under on the number of points in this game? I would say something in the 65+ range. Winner - Saints.

Hello NBA!!!!

The season kicks off tonight!!!! Finally some NBA basketball to go with the NFL. Lots of moves have been made over the summer and now it's time to see if any of them were good, bad, or indifferent. Tonights' schedule:

Boston @ Cleveland - The Return of KG. The Appearance of Shaq in Cleveland. This is going to be a great game. LeBron gets his first game with a motivated Shaq, but minus a wayward Delonte West. I like Anthony Parker as a pickup for this team, watch him. Rasheed and (Marquis) Daniels provide a big lift over the bench the Celtics had last year too. But the man to watch is Shelden Williams. He hasn't done much but marry Candace Parker and maintain an NBA job, but I think that he can give this team quality minutes off the bench. I'm a Duke apologist people, what can I say. Winner - Cavaliers.

Washington @ Dallas - A rested Nowitzki and a rejuvenated Gilbert Arenas. The Mavericks are part of the Western playoff picture and the Wizards have been a bad punchline for a long time. The Wizards have a lot of talent, but they have to make it work. Gilbert is back. Winner - Wizards.

Houston @ Portland - No Yao, no T-Mac, no chance. Trevor Ariza, I hope that paycheck keeps you warm at night because that feeling of winning that you had last year is gone. The Blazers should run away with this game. Word on the street is that Greg Oden is healthy (amazing) and motivated, Winner - Trailblazers.

LA Clippers @ LA Lakers - The Clippers seem to have their normal luck with the injury of Blake Griffin (out for 6 weeks with a fractured knee cap). Baron, have fun with this team. The Lakers are stacked!!! I mean stacked. Artest, Kobe, Gasol, Bynum, Fisher, Odom, and then their benchmob. Not the team I want to play. Winner - Lakers.

NFL Week 7 Wrap Up

Wow, what a terrible week.

Green Bay @ Cleveland - Well, the Packers started off the week with a blowout as expected. Cleveland can't wiat for tonight to see the NBA season kick off. Hey, at least Braylon Edwards got charged for hitting LeBron's friend. You know you've made it when the media refers to you, not by your given name, but by the moniker, 'LeBron's friend'. Inquisitive Mind 1 - 0 for the week.

San Diego @ Kansas City - Finally a team that the Chargers can dominate and so they did. That's two blowouts in two games. Larry Johnson, pack your bags. Inquisitive Mind 2 - 0 for the week.

Indianpolis @ St. Louis - Momma said there'd be days like this. Yet another blowout and the Rams really weren't even that close. Inquisitive Mind 3 - 0 for the week.

Minnesota @ Pittsburgh - Well the Vikings finally got beat. This was a good game. I thought the Vikings were going to win this one, but the Steelers defens finally closed a game. Inquisitive Mind 3 - 1 for the week.

New England @ Tampa Bay - ANOTHER blowout. Nothing more to say. Inquisitive Mind 4 - 1 for the week.

San Francisco @ Houston - We held on with this one. Alex Smith was substituted for the terrible Shaun Hill and the 49ers became dangerous. If he can put a few more drives like that together, this team gets instantly better. Remember, this is the guy that was working out with Crabtree earlier this year. Fantasy owners should be happy. Bad not for the Texans, Andre Johnson has a bruised lung. You won't see him for a few weeks. Inquisitive Mind 5 - 1 for the week.

Buffalo @ Carolina - Keith, I'm with you, why did the Panthers pay Jake Delhomme? I mean, really, why is he getting a check? I guess maybe he's a little confused with that whole interception/touchdown thing. Jake, throw to the people with your jersey on. Inquisitive Mind 5 - 2 for the week.

New York Jets @ Oakland - This should have been the score with the Raiders playing the Eagles last week. Can someone sit JaMarcus Russell? Really!?!?! Inquisitive Mind 6 - 2 for the week.

Atlanta @ Dallas - The Falcons let me down. They let the Cowboys look good. No, I am not a Cowboys apologist, but the Falcons made them look good. Why did Romo get paid that money? Inquisitive Mind 6 - 3 for the week.

Chicago @ Cincinnati - Ok, I'm happy that Cedric Benson got his revenge and he destroyed the Bears defense. But I have some issues: 1) He can't blame anyone in Chicago for him sucking the way he did, unless he starts with himself. I never saw him run that hard in Chicago. 2) The Bears are toothless. When the game was already out of hand and it was the 4th quarter AND the Bengals put in their backup QB, Benson wouldn't pull himself out of the game. The Bears should have hurt him. Period. The game was already over, and the only reason he was out there was to rub it in a little more. They should have gang tackled him and tried to break him in half. Inquisitive Mind 7 - 3 for the week.

New Orleans @ Miami - The Dolphins listened to me, but too many turnovers killed them. The Saints came back from near death and won this game. The Saints are for real. Inquisitive Mind 8 - 3 for the week.

Arizona @ New York Giants - How do you lose this game if you are the Giants? Especially to a team that is very one dimensional and a very brittle at the QB position. Don't understand the Giants. I can't even blame Eli for this one, he played ok. He was putting the ball in his receivers hands but they weren't making any plays. I just stood up for Eli Manning, I must be drinking. Inquisitive Mind 8 - 4 for the week.

Philadelphia @ Washington - We knew the Redskins didn't have a chance. For those that are die hard Redskins fans, you are going to have a terrible rest of the year. With some positive, Campbell looked ok last night. I mean he delivered WHEN he was given time. The fact that he basically had on an Eagles jersey on most downs, didn't help him look good. The bad is that they lost their Pro Bowl TE Cooley for the year with a broken ankle. Inquisitive Mind 9 - 4 for the week.

Not too bad, but it can always be better. How am I doing? Let's see. 66-37.

NFL Week 7 Picks

I need a perfect weekend.

Green Bay @ Cleveland - The Packers should easily win this game, but with them juggling their offensive line due to injuries (Clifton), the Browns may cause some problems like they did last week with the Steelers. Winner - Packers.

San Diego @ Kansas City - Finally a game the Chargers SHOULD win. The Chiefs were able to get a win last week against the Redskins and they actually look decent. They seem to be solid on both sides of the ball. The Chargers' inconsistency scares the isht out of me, but I gotta think they can beat a bad team. Winner - Chargers.

Indianapolis @ St. Louis - The Colts travel to St. Louis to run the score up. Think Patriots from last week. Winner - Colts.

Minnesota @ Pittsburgh - Hmmm, looks like a great game on paper. Should end up being a great game. The Steelers seem to be more pass happy than usual and that may help them against a dinged up Vikings secondary. The issue will be if the Steelers can keep the Williamses and Allen off of Roethlisberger. The Steelers defense hasn't been able to close the door on anyone this season. Winner - Vikings.

New England @ Tampa Bay - This doesn't look good. It seems as though the Patriots found a way to start a fire with two sticks and they are just pouring gas onto the flames. Laurence Maroney found out that he can still run the ball (great news for my fantasy team) and this Patriots team seems to have gotten their swagger back after destroying the Titans last week. Winner - Patriots.

San Francisco @ Houston - Welcome to the league Michael Crabtree. The 49ers need a win this week to get some of their swagger back. Crabtree joins a receiving corp that really needs a big play receiver. I still have no faith in Shaun Hill, so I can't think that this 49er team will go into Houston and beat the Texans. Stranger things have happened. Winner - Texans.

Buffalo @ Carolina - This is finally the week that the Bills realize why they got TO!!! I think I penned that one a few weeks ago and we're still waiting for that moment. The Bills just suck. They have a decent weather game in Carolina but I don't think that they will be able to stop the Panthers' running game. Is Julius Peppers still playing football for the Panthers? Winner - Panthers.

New York Jets @ Oakland - Well, I would normally put 2 and 2 together and get 4 but obviously this didn't work last week. The Jets are coming off of two bad losses and should be more than pissed when they play the Raiders. The Raiders just upset the Eagles last weekend and that prompted Richard Seymour to say that the Raiders will be in the playoffs. I thought the NFL drug tested their players? 2+2=4. Winner - Jets.

Atlanta @ Dallas - This ought to be an interesting game. When your owner says that you need a defining game, that's probably not good. The Falcons come off a big game against the Bears where their defense stepped up. The Falcons get to see that new Dallas Stadium and we'll see if they can get this win. I'm still not sold on Romo. Winner - Falcons.

Chicago @ Cincinnati - This should be an easy win for the Bears, but nothing is easy for them. They'll get a heavy dose of Cedric Benson, but probably more Carson Palmer. The Bears have got to step up and play some offense or at least give Forte a chance to run the ball. A 2.2 yards per carry isn't going to win too many games. Winner - Bengals.

New Orleans @ Miami - Well now the Dolphins get a chance to stop this high powered offense. Their best chance will be to do what they did with the Colts (yeah they still lost but it gave them the best chance to win) and try and keep Drew Brees on the sidelines sipping Gatorade. The wildcat ought to be on stage all day today, but I don't think the Dolphins have enough offense to win. Winner - Saints.

Arizona @ New York Giants - I have to hope that the Giants are prepared for this game. We all know about the Cardinals. Kurt Warner is going to take the ball and in about 6 seconds he'll be 5-7 yards deep, so if you get to that spot, you'll find him and he'll be out of the game. Not sold on the Eli here, so the Giants have got to run the ball. Winner - Giants.

Philadelphia @ Washington - The Eagles killed me last week in fantasy football, so they have to make it up to me. They get a wounded Redskins team with Sherman Lewis calling the plays. Lewis was calling bingo games for the last 5 years until he was asked to come back a few weeks ago to become the offensive coordinator. Tell me if you think that sounds good. I mean, any of it. Winner - Eagles.

NFL Week 6 Wrap Up

Can I tell you how much I am hating the Eagles right now? We'll get to this shortly, but let's recap the week.

Houston @ Cincinnati - Well, there goes my Bengals pick. The Texans came in and dominated this game on both sides of the ball. The defense held the most recently lethal Cedric Benson to a pedestrian 44 yards. Carson Palmer did what he could, but Matt Schaub stole the show with 392 yards and 4 TDs (1 int). On a separate note, Cedric Benson says that the Bears bad mouthed him and that was the reason it took him so long to catch on with another team. Cedric, you played like a punk when you were in Chicago. Nuff said. Inquisitive Mind 0 - 1 for the week.

Detroit @ Green Bay - The Packers got back into the mix of things and that's what they needed. Then they went out and signed Ahman Green again, can I ask why?!?!?! Inquisitive Mind 1 - 1 for the week.

Baltimore @ Minnesota - I thought for a second there that the Ravens would pull this off at the end. Actually when Ray Rice ran that TD late in the game, I thought it was over and a major upset. Then the old man, Favre, moved his team down the field and took the lead. The missed field goal at the end of the game just provided more drama. All in all a good game and a sad end for the Ravens. They have lost 3 games in a row, and have allowed two backs to run for consecutive 100 yard games. What's going on in Baltimore? Inquisitive Mind 2 - 1 for the week.

New York Giants @ New Orleans - I guess $100M doesn't get you much these days. People said this game would go to the better QB and they were right. Eli looked average (that's what I've been saying) and Drew Brees looked like Tom Brady. The funniest part was watching Eli yell at Ahmad Bradshaw for missing a blitz pickup. Ahmad should have smacked him in his mouth for all of the receivers he missed during the game. Inquisitive Mind 3 - 1 for the week.

Cleveland @ Pittsburgh - The Steelers can't close. That's it, that's all. They should have blown that Browns team out by close to 30. Instead they made it close the entire game. Note to Brady Quinn, if you can't start in front of a guy who completed 2 passes the game before,...you might need to pack your bags. Inquisitive Mind 4 - 1 for the week.

Carolina @ Tampa Bay - That NFC South used to be a good division, now it sucks. This game was another close one and the Panthers eeked this one out. Is Julius Peppers still playing football? Inquisitive Mind 5 - 1 for the week.

Kansas City @ Washington - Somebody had to win and the Chiefs are bad, but they aren't as bad as the Redskins. I actually feel sorry for Jim Zorn because he is being humiliated by the organization by having a bingo caller come out of retirement to be his offensive coordinator. He maybe should have walked out. Inquisitive Mind 6 - 1 for the week.

St. Louis @ Jacksonville - Why is it these Jaguars can't have two good games in a row? I mean you get the Rams at home and you go to overtime to beat them? Inquisitive Mind 7 - 1 for the week.

Arizona @ Seattle - Why is it these Seahawks can't have two good games in a row? (deja vu) The Seahawks got pummelled by the Cardinals. This wasn't even close. They just didn't show up. Inquisitive Mind 7 - 2 for the week.

Philadelphia @ Oakland - You're kidding me right? That score was reversed right? The Eagles didn't just go to Oakland and lose to a JaMarcus Russell led team? Donovan McNabb didn't get outplayed by the aforementioned QB too did he? I mean what the fuqq? This was supposed to be a blowout by the Eagles with fantasy football points just overflowing by Eagles players. I guess this is why they play the games. Inquisitive Mind 7 - 3 for the week.

Tennessee @ New England - Wow. 59 points. All types of records and all in the snow. The Titans are done. Jeff Fisher it has been nice seeing you coach over the years, but good luck with the next gig. Inquisitive Mind 8 - 3 for the week.

Buffalo @ New York Jets - Senior Sanchez had his worst game of his life (I think). He threw for 5 INTs against the Bills. I mean he only completed 10 passes to his teammates and then 5 to the other team. That's not a good ratio. The Jets had an opportunity to rebound but they left this one out on the field. Inquisitive Mind 8 - 4 for the week.

Chicago @ Atlanta - You know what, you can't win a game if you get in the red zone 4 times and can't finish. The Bears don't look good right now. They need a #1 receiver and if anyone says they have that in Devin Hester, you need to wake up. Why isn't Hester just returning kicks to help the Bears win the field position game? Why not spend some money or make a trade to acquire a receiver? Congrats to Cutler for his extension, basically 2 years/$20 million. Inquisitive Mind 9 - 4 for the week.

Denver @ San Diego - Break them up now. The Chargers are done. Last year they came back and made the playoffs, but this team is done. I just can't explain not getting any pressure on Kyle Orton the entire game and letting the Broncos just run all over them. Eddie Royal, you are a bad, bad, bad man. Inquisitive Mind 9 - 5 for the week.

Well, it seems we're stuck on this 9-5 thing. I gotta make some headway here. Any advice for me? Maybe that's what I need to be doing from here on out. Asking for help. For the season I am 57-33.

NFL WEek 6 Picks

Ok, this is late, but it's been a long weekend. Here we go.

Houston @ Cincinnati - The Bengals are actually good this year, huh? Palmer seems to be fully recovered from his blown knee and the surprise of the year is Cedric Benson is running the ball like he should be doing. Houston comes in with an offense that can put points on the board, but I'm not sure if they can pull this one off. Winner - Bengals.

Detroit @ Green Bay - Look for Duante Culpepper to play because Stafford's knee needs this week and the bye before he comes back. There won't be any snow and I don't think the tundra will be frozen, but the Packers defense is going to be ready. Winner - Packers.

Baltimore @ Minnesota - This is a rough game to pick. The Ravens offense has performed in every game except the last one and now they are going against a great defense in the Vikings. I don't expect them to perform much better. I think the Ravens defense is going to bring it, but I think the Vikings have too many weapons. This one hurts to pick. Winner - Vikings.

New York Giants @ New Orleans - Talk about a shootout. This one should be exciting too. The Giants go into New Orleans and face a hot Drew Brees. People are saying that Manning is just as good, but I just don't trust him. Sorry. Love the Giants defense, love Drew Brees,.....Winner - Saints.

Cleveland @ Pittsburgh - Derek Andersen completed two passes last week and they won. Two passes. Won't happen against the Steelers. Winner - Steelers.

Carolina @ Tampa Bay - I think the Panthers are turning it around now. Good win against a bad team last week (Redskins), but they looked good in the 2nd half when they came back. Winner - Panthers.

Kansas City @ Washington - Someone has to win. Washington is terrible and I don't have confidence in the Redskins. I think that I banned myself from picking the Redskins for the rest of the year after they lost to the Lions. Winner - Chiefs.

St. Louis @ Jacksonville - Another, someone has to win. The Jags had a let down, in my opinion, last week by getting blown out by the Seahawks. This is their bounce back game. Winner - Jaguars.

Arizona @ Seattle - The over under on the combines score should be about 70 for this game. The Seahawks are trying to continue their winning ways, so I expect Hasselbeck to shine in this game. Winner - Seahawks.

Philadelphia @ Oakland - Pretty sure everyone will get this one right. This is a fantasy owners dream if you have any Eagles players. Winner - Eagles.

Tennessee @ New England - The Titans are struggling and it doesn't seem to get better this week. The Patriots are getting close to clicking and this may be the week. Winner - Patriots.

Buffalo @ New York Jets - I feel sorry for the Bills. The Jets played terribly last week and lost on Monday night. The first thing out of my mouth, was I feel for their opponent next week. Winner - Jets.

Chicago @ Atlanta - I love the pick up of Gaines for the Bears, but why can't they seem to get a player that helps them on offense? The Bears look decent, but I think that the Falcons win this one at home on Sunday night. Winner - Falcons.

Denver @ San Diego - No one wants to pick the Chargers in this, right? Can they pull it together this week? I'm going out on a limb with this one, Give me the San Diego 'Super' Chargers!!!! Winner - Chargers.

NFL Week 5 Wrap Up

A decent week, but let's take a look at the games.

Cleveland @ Buffalo - I said that this would be the game that TO finally shows the Bills fans why they are paying him $6M a year. How wrong was I? This was the absolute worst game of the season by far. It looked like two Pop Warner teams were playing. And to make matters worse, I picked the wrong team. Inquisitive Mind 0 - 1 for the week.

Dallas @ Kansas City - Talk about throwing up in your mouth. How in the halibut did the Cowboys even make this game close? I'm sorry, they should have lost this game to a team who hasn't won a game this season and could probably continue that streak for the rest of the year. These Cowboys are really in trouble for the rest of the year. They had to beat Kansas City in overtime. Inquisitive Mind 1 - 1 for the week.

Minnesota @ St. Louis - Well, no 100 yard game for AP, but a big win for the Vikes. Inquisitive Mind 2 - 1 for the week.

Oakland @ New York Giants - This was outrageous. Eli Manning had 173 yards and 2 TDs by halftime. This was a mercy killing. The only thing that surprised me is that the Raiders actually scored. Inquisitive Mind 3 - 1 for the week.

Tampa Bay @ Philadelphia - Donovan looked great in his return from his rib injury. Jeremy Maclin seemed to be the benefactor of his return as they ran the score up on the Bucs. Inquisitive Mind 4 - 1 for the week.

Pittsburgh @ Detroit - What's going on with the Steelers? I mean they should have run the score up on a Detroit team without Matt Stafford. Duante Culpepper looked ok, but this game shouldn't have been close. The Steelers seem to miss Willie Parker (who is practicing this week and should play) and the defense has got to get a pulse. This is going to be a long season for them if they don't turn it around, and soon. Inquisitive Mind 5 - 1 for the week.

Washington @ Carolina - Can we just blow up the Redskins and call this a season for them? This loss had to hurt badly since they were leading 10 - 2 at halftime. Things were looking good since the Panthers simply forgot how to play football for 3 quarters. Then, it happened, the Panthers caught fire and scored 11 points in the 4th quarter (7 points in the 3rd) and ended up beating the Redskins 20 - 17. The Jim Zorn watch is definitely on and I expect him to add former to his present title within the next 3 weeks. Inquisitive Mind 6 - 1 for the week.

Cincinnati @ Baltimore - This one hurt. The Ravens played pretty well and then let the cardiac Bengals come back. I will say this, Cedric Benson is quietly playing like a top running back. He played like a little b**** in Chicago, but he is running like someone is chasing him in Cincy. If he keeps this up, the Bengals are going to be a hard out for a lot of people. Inquisitive Mind 6 - 2 for the week.

Atlanta @ San Francisco - I told you Shaun Hill can't continue to win games without Frank Gore. Well, it was him and the fact that the 49ers defens gave up 210 yards to Roddy White. 210 yards to Roddy White. Write that one down, that's almost half a season for him right there. Inquisitive Mind 7 - 2 for the week.

Jacksonville @ Seattle - What happened? The Jaguars just didn't show up. What did McNabb and Hasselbeck take to heal their ribs and then play like this? Hasselbeck threw for 241 yards and 4 TDs. Whatever it is, the Seahawks need him to continue to take it. They have a tough schedule the rest of the season. Inquisitive Mind 7 - 3 for the week.

Houston @ Arizona - This looked like a blowout until the 2nd half. The Texans battled back to make it close but weren't able to get in the end zone with 4 downs. That's a professional football team that couldn't get 2 yards on 4 downs. You deserve to lose that game. Inquisitive Mind 8 - 3 for the week.

New England @ Denver - GREAT GAME! The Patriots seemed off. Brady missed Moss and Welker in this game which would have turned the outcome of this one in favor of the Patriots. With that said, the Broncos played a helluva game. They got behind early but the defense kept the the Patriots from running the score up. In the end the Broncos came back and sorta shocked the world with this win. Inquisitive Mind 8 - 4 for the week.

Indianapolis @ Tennessee - 0 for!!! Just one question for the Titans, why isn't Vince Young playing? I mean c'mon. Collins sucks and their defense can't stop anybody from scoring. All of this hateration has to stop. Free VY!!! Quietly, Peyton Manning has thrown for over 300 yards in the first 5 games of the season. Think about that ladies and gentlemen, that's 1500+ yards in the first 5 games. Inquisitive Mind 9 - 4 for the week.

New York Jets @ Miami - Another good game. The wildcat killed the Jets. That defense looked terrible and Rex Ryan echoed that after the game. I feel sorry for the team that the Jets play next week. The Dolphins were able to run whenever they wanted and Chadd Henne looked great. He has a good arm, but we'll see how long he can ride the wave. I doubt that happen for long. Inquisitive Mind 9 -5 for the week.

Well, this isn't really helping me catch anyone, but we still have a lot of weeks left. That leave us with a 48 - 28 record for the season.

NFL Week 5 Picks

We'll see if we can finally get this thing turned around this week.

Cleveland @ Buffalo - This is the week ladies and gents, TO finally becomes the reason that the Bills win a game. I expect him to show out and watch as that Bills defense eats up a terrible Browns offensive unit. By the way, who's starting today for the Browns? It really doesn't matter. Winner - Bills.

Dallas @ Kansas City - Finally a team I can say with confidence the Cowboys can beat. Hold on now,...the Chiefs have no offense except being able to run the ball and the Cowboys can't seem to stop the run. I should be scared of this game if I am a Cowboy. We haven't been able to put two games together this season where we play well. Last week was a stinker, so,..... Winner - Cowboys.

Minnesota @ St. Louis - Hello 100+ yard game for Adrian Peterson. The Rams suck and they get to go against a potent Vikings offense. What's the over under on the number of times Kyle Boller gets hit today? I'm saying somewhere in the teens. Winner - Vikings.

Oakland @ New York Giants - No chance,....no chance in hell. Winner - Giants.

Tampa Bay @ Philadelphia - Everyone is saying this is an easy win for the Eagles and that's why they're bringing Donovan back this game. I'm not so sure that this is an easy win. The Eagles defense will cause some problems, but if the Bucs are able to put together a few offensive series, this could be a tighter game than expected. Winner - Eagles.

Pittsburgh @ Detroit - We'll see if the Steelers defense is back on track. They need a big effort here to give them some confidence. Stafford shouldn't play (he's your future Detroit, don't get him killed early), so in the end this should be a cake walk for the Steelers. Winner - Steelers.

Washington @ Carolina - One of these teams has to win, right? I never thought that Carolina would be playing this badly. The Panthers have way too much talent in the backfield to have to settle for Delhomme throwing the ball a lot. Washington hasn't shown us anything yet. What's even sadder is their new offensive coordinator/consultant was just recently calling bingo games in an old folks home. That's a smack in the face to head coach Zorn. If the Redskins lose this game, he'll be at home next week watching football games with friends. Winner - Panthers.

Cincinnati @ Baltimore - Not what the Bengals needed. Has Ochocinco been quiet this week? He did promise a Ricky Bobby celebration if he gets in the endzone. Why would you want to enrage this Ravens defense? Winner - Ravens.

Atlanta @ San Francisco - The 49ers have been playing great with Shaun Hill at QB, but this is the week that it stops. The Falcons need this win badly and without the venerable Frank Gore, I'm not sure that 49ers offense clicks again as well. Winner - Falcons.

Jacksonville @ Seattle - The Jaguars are still running the ball and that's what makes them a better team. They get a cross country trip to Seattle and they also get a defense that is still missing quite a few starters. The Seahawks have some hope since Matt Hasselbeck will start, but I think he's one good hit away for being out another few weeks. I guess I go with the hotter team here. Winner - Jaguars.

Houston @ Arizona - This ought to be a shootout. Neither team has cemented themselves as good/great yet. The Cardinals played in the Superbowl last year and the Texans are stocked full with talent. With the Cardinals, it's all about keeping Kurt Warner in a vertical position. If Mario Williams can apply some pressure (he seems to be the only Texan that can) then this is going to be a long day for Warner. This is really about which team protects their QB better. Coin flip please. Winner - Cardinals.

New England @ Denver - The mentor against one of his mentees. How are the Broncos 4-0? Defense. With that said, I think they'll be able to play defense against this Patriots team to make it tough for them. It'll be cold and we may even see some snow. The Patriots are going to have to run the ball and then spread this Denver defense out. Welker, Moss, and Watson should all have pretty decent days. Winner - Patriots.

Indianapolis @ Tennessee - The Titans can't stop the pass and they get a Peyton Manning led team. This ought to be a blow out. The Titans are staring 0-5 in the face and they will at least fight this one to the end. Winner - Colts.

New York Jets @ Miami - Great Monday night game. The Jets are reeling from their loss last week and they go into Miami with both sides doing a lot of talking. The Dolphins are starting Chad Henne at QB, but are giving people a lot of the wildcat to supplement that offense. The Jets are running the ball well and letting their rookie Matt Sanchez play within himself, while the Jets defense has been shutting people down. So, when two defensive minded teams play who do you pick? Winner - Jets.

Happy Birthday to Me!!!!

First things first, let's go ahead and get the birthday wishes completed. Thanks to all of those that have hit me up. It's been a great 30+ years and I look forward to about 60 more. Hope everyone has a great day because I will and hopefully I'll get some big time birthday wishes to come true.

NFL Week 4 Wrap Up

Let's see how we did this week.

Detroit @ Chicago - This was a good game, at least for a half. The Lions came out with some gumption and I think they actually scared the Bears early. Matthew Stafford looked pretty good and he was missing wide open receivers (can't they teach him how to put some air under his throws?). Finally the Bears showed up and and ended up putting Stafford out of the game and they also ran the score up. Good win for the Bears. Inquisitive Mind 1 - 0 for the week.

Cincinnati @ Cleveland - Are you kidding me? The Browns were thisclose to pulling this off, but the Bengals got it done. Derek Anderson didn't help the struggling Browns and it seems as though this loss may have pushed Braylon Edwards over the edge by attacking one of LeBron's boys. Things are going horribly wrong in Cleveland. Inquisitive Mind 2 - 0 for the week.

Seattle @ Indianapolis - Dwight Freeney played and played pretty well for someone who hurt his quad last week. Manning looked great hitting everyone that was on the field. I think I could run patterns and he'd find me. This Colts team is dangerous. Inquisitive Mind 3 - 0 for the week.

New York Giants @ Kansas City - Steve Smith looked like Steve Smith from the Panthers. 134 yards and 2 TDs. Great game for him (he's the #1 reason I lost in Fantasy this week). Giants fans will be on pins and needles after seeing Eli go down on his own. Plantar fasciitis is the culprit, but that's something that will effect him for the rest of the season. If he can't set his feet because one of them hurts, nothing good can come out of this. Inquisitive Mind 4 - 0 for the week.

Baltimore @ New England - Two roughing the passer calls, and a dropped pass late in the 4th quarter. Ray Lewis is right and I wonder how long it'll be before he gets a fine, eventhough he was telling the truth. Inquisitive Mind 4 - 1 for the week.

Tampa Bay @ Washington - They almost made me come through the TV. The Redskins should have blown the Bucs out but they almost lost the dayum game. Almost a 100 by Portis, and Campbell didn't look too bad. Is this something to build on or is this as good as it gets for the Redskins? Inquisitive Mind 5 - 1 for the week.

Tennessee @ Jacksonville - What is happening to the Titans?!?!? Usually a Jeff Fisher team can play defense, but this team can't play period. I'm hearing chants for Vince Young already. That's exactly what this team needs, a change of some sort. Inquisitive Mind 5 - 2 for the week.

Oakland @ Houston - The Texans still can't seem to run the ball, but who needs all of that when you're playing the Raiders. This was an ugly game and anyone who saw more than 2 minutes of this game, I apologize for you losing that much of your life with no chance of getting that time back. The only thing worse than losing this game is having your head coach arrested. Inquisitive Mind 6 - 2 for the week.

New York Jets @ New Orleans - The Jets defense decided to put on white and gold this weekend. The Saints made Senor Sanchez look like a rookie QB by applying pressure to the young QB at every opportunity. Drew Brees had his worse game so far this season and his team won by 14. Sucks to be him, huh? Inquisitive Mind 6 - 3 for the week.

Buffalo @ Miami - How many of you are waiting to see TO lose it? I personally am just tuning in to Sportscenter everyday for the next two weeks to see when it's going to happen. He can't hold it in much longer. This Bills team stinks. I mean they are terrible, and it doesn't look good for the rest of the year. Inquisitive Mind 7 - 3 for the week.

St. Louis @ San Francisco - Wow. The 49ers left no doubt how serious they are about this season. They destroyed the Rams with mostly defense, but also an all around effort without Frank Gore. We'll see if they can hold it together for the rest of the year. Inquisitive Mind 8 - 3 for the week.

Dallas @ Denver - What in the hockeysticks is going on with the Cowboys. You have a monster offensive line and then go to Denver and lose a game to a small defensive front? Tony Romo sucked again. The running game was ok, but this game was won in the trenches and the Broncos showed us more heart and game than anything. They have given up a total of 26 points this year. 26 points. I'll agree they haven't played many high powered teams, but they played their schedule and they have played well. The Broncos are 4 - 0. Maybe they know what they're doing in Denver. Inquisitive Mind 8 - 4 for the week.

San Diego @ Pittsburgh - Ok, if the hurry up offense works for you that good, why not go to that for a while at the start of a game. The Chargers looked helpless until late in the 3rd and 4th quarter. Once they got their hurry up going, they put up points. The Steelers were thisclose to letting another one get a way. The Chargers have to turn it around soon if they are going to the Superbowl. They have a chance, but a few more games like this and it's over. Inquisitive Mind 8 - 5 for the week.

Green Bay @ Minnesota - This was a good game. I don't like watching Favre cry, so that is one bad thing about this. Aaron Rodgers will be great this year if they can keep him upright. He's been sacked at least 20 times so far this season, that's almost 5 times a game. Favre looked good in this game with the Packers deciding to take Peterson out of the game (55 yards, 1 TD, 1 fumble lost). The Vikings defense can bring it and they are pretty much solid all the way around, so this bodes well for them. The Packers got themselves back in this game, so at least they can take some positive away from this. Inquisitive Mind 9 - 5 for the week.

Not too bad, but I gotta get better. 39 - 23 for the season. Am I catching up yet?

NFL Week 4 Picks

Let's get straight into this:

Detroit @ Chicago - Both teams got big wins last week and seem to be on some kind of roll, well the Lions may be on the smallest of rolls, but they played well against a terrible Redskins team last week. This is Stafford's first game at Soldiers Field and it'll be cold and maybe a little damp. The Bears can't lose this game, can they? Winner - Bears.

Cincinnati @ Cleveland - Either Derek Anderson starting is going to make a HUGE difference or this is going to be another win for the Bengals. That's all I could think about with this game. The Bengals have looked decent and Cleveland has yet to show me that they don't belong in the Big Ten when it comes to football. You know if you start picking the Bengals too many times, you end up growing those terrible stripes. Winner - Bengals.

Seattle @ Indianapolis - I picked against the Colts last week right? They get a beat up Seahawks team who played well early against the Bears last week. The good thing for the Seahawks is that the Colts are missing Dwight Freeney for this game and maybe Seneca Wallace will be able to do something without getting hit in the head every passing down. The Seahawks are hurting on defense which is going to be a problem when you face Peyton Manning. Everything says pick the Seahawks in the upset. Winner - Colts.

New York Giants @ Kansas City - I'm going to already starting the body count for the Chiefs in this game. They'll be down 1 QB, 1 offensive lineman, and possibly a skill position player (wr or rb). Mark my words. Winner - Giants.

Baltimore @ New England - This is going to be a great game. This would have been easier to pick if it were in Baltimore, but this is what I'm dealing with. The Patriots haven't shown us that they are back on the same page, but they did get a step closer last week. So the question is will they finally put it all together this week, or will it take a few more? The Ravens have played good football even though they have been giving up points like crazy, but they are winning. Do they finally kick it up a notch or does it take another week? Winner - Ravens.

Tampa Bay @ Washington - This should just be a draw. The Redskins are that terrible, but the Bucs are starting over with 2nd year player Josh Johnson. I don't believe that I am doing this, I may have to seek help afterwards,..... Winner - Redskins.

Tennessee @ Jacksonville - Will the real Titans please stand up? I think they actually will this week. They go into Jacksonville and I think they finally put all the pieces together. As long as no one mentions Albert Haynesworth, I think they'll be ok. Winner - Titans.

Oakland @ Houston - This won't be on national TV, at least I don't think it will be and I'm happy about this. Who should have to suffer as much by watching these two teams? Really the Texans are decent/good, but the Raiders? Winner - Texans.

New York Jets @ New Orleans - Another good game this week. The only question is can the Jets defense stop the Saints enough to give Mark Sanchez and their offense a chance to win this thing? My thoughts, Brees looks normal against this defense who will be sending people from the stands (or at least it'll seem that way) at Brees. Winner - Jets.

Buffalo @ Miami - If one team can score and the other team can't, who wins? Chad Henne will start for the Dolphins with Pennington out. He has a better arm than most, but will he be in sync enough with Ted Ginn Jr. this game? Miami can still play defense, and they are solid on offense. Winner - Dolphins.

St. Louis @ San Francisco - I'll bet you this, IF the 49ers lose this game, Mike Singletary will lose it in the post game press conference. As much as I'd like to see Samurai Mike get at them, there's no way they lose this game. Winner - 49ers.

Dallas @ Denver - I don't know why this will even resemble a good game as most have predicted. Remember last game for the Cowboys, for the first half they let Tony Romo just throw the ball (that yielded 0 points), and then they decided to run the ball in the second half and they win. If the Cowboys stick to this plan, the running plan, they will win. Otherwise, this is going to be a sad game. Winner - Cowboys.

San Diego @ Pittsburgh - The Steelers haven't played well yet. There's a slight chance that they get back Troy Polamalu this week, but that's slight. They need him or an injection of something to get this team going. Big Ben is worried that he is going to lose some money in the near future and they can't run the ball. The Chargers are coming in with a quarterback who is quietly starting to remind people of Drew Brees. Philip Rivers is playing well and the Chargers get back LT. Winner - Chargers.

Green Bay @ Minnesota - The Game of the Week. Favre has a chance to go against his old team, finally!!! This ought to be a shootout, but the Packers have got to step it up this weekend. They are going against one of the better defenses in the league and if they play like they played against the Bengals, Aaron Rodgers won't even be upright to shake Brett's hand after the game. The biggest difference in this game is #28. He gives Favre and the Vikings the ability to beat anyone. I think they help Favre get some revenge on Monday night. Winner - Vikings.
