Can I tell you how much I am hating the Eagles right now? We'll get to this shortly, but let's recap the week.
Houston @ Cincinnati - Well, there goes my Bengals pick. The Texans came in and dominated this game on both sides of the ball. The defense held the most recently lethal Cedric Benson to a pedestrian 44 yards. Carson Palmer did what he could, but Matt Schaub stole the show with 392 yards and 4 TDs (1 int). On a separate note, Cedric Benson says that the Bears bad mouthed him and that was the reason it took him so long to catch on with another team. Cedric, you played like a punk when you were in Chicago. Nuff said. Inquisitive Mind 0 - 1 for the week.
Detroit @ Green Bay - The Packers got back into the mix of things and that's what they needed. Then they went out and signed Ahman Green again, can I ask why?!?!?! Inquisitive Mind 1 - 1 for the week.
Baltimore @ Minnesota - I thought for a second there that the Ravens would pull this off at the end. Actually when Ray Rice ran that TD late in the game, I thought it was over and a major upset. Then the old man, Favre, moved his team down the field and took the lead. The missed field goal at the end of the game just provided more drama. All in all a good game and a sad end for the Ravens. They have lost 3 games in a row, and have allowed two backs to run for consecutive 100 yard games. What's going on in Baltimore? Inquisitive Mind 2 - 1 for the week.
New York Giants @ New Orleans - I guess $100M doesn't get you much these days. People said this game would go to the better QB and they were right. Eli looked average (that's what I've been saying) and Drew Brees looked like Tom Brady. The funniest part was watching Eli yell at Ahmad Bradshaw for missing a blitz pickup. Ahmad should have smacked him in his mouth for all of the receivers he missed during the game. Inquisitive Mind 3 - 1 for the week.
Cleveland @ Pittsburgh - The Steelers can't close. That's it, that's all. They should have blown that Browns team out by close to 30. Instead they made it close the entire game. Note to Brady Quinn, if you can't start in front of a guy who completed 2 passes the game before,...you might need to pack your bags. Inquisitive Mind 4 - 1 for the week.
Carolina @ Tampa Bay - That NFC South used to be a good division, now it sucks. This game was another close one and the Panthers eeked this one out. Is Julius Peppers still playing football? Inquisitive Mind 5 - 1 for the week.
Kansas City @ Washington - Somebody had to win and the Chiefs are bad, but they aren't as bad as the Redskins. I actually feel sorry for Jim Zorn because he is being humiliated by the organization by having a bingo caller come out of retirement to be his offensive coordinator. He maybe should have walked out. Inquisitive Mind 6 - 1 for the week.
St. Louis @ Jacksonville - Why is it these Jaguars can't have two good games in a row? I mean you get the Rams at home and you go to overtime to beat them? Inquisitive Mind 7 - 1 for the week.
Arizona @ Seattle - Why is it these Seahawks can't have two good games in a row? (deja vu) The Seahawks got pummelled by the Cardinals. This wasn't even close. They just didn't show up. Inquisitive Mind 7 - 2 for the week.
Philadelphia @ Oakland - You're kidding me right? That score was reversed right? The Eagles didn't just go to Oakland and lose to a JaMarcus Russell led team? Donovan McNabb didn't get outplayed by the aforementioned QB too did he? I mean what the fuqq? This was supposed to be a blowout by the Eagles with fantasy football points just overflowing by Eagles players. I guess this is why they play the games. Inquisitive Mind 7 - 3 for the week.
Tennessee @ New England - Wow. 59 points. All types of records and all in the snow. The Titans are done. Jeff Fisher it has been nice seeing you coach over the years, but good luck with the next gig. Inquisitive Mind 8 - 3 for the week.
Buffalo @ New York Jets - Senior Sanchez had his worst game of his life (I think). He threw for 5 INTs against the Bills. I mean he only completed 10 passes to his teammates and then 5 to the other team. That's not a good ratio. The Jets had an opportunity to rebound but they left this one out on the field. Inquisitive Mind 8 - 4 for the week.
Chicago @ Atlanta - You know what, you can't win a game if you get in the red zone 4 times and can't finish. The Bears don't look good right now. They need a #1 receiver and if anyone says they have that in Devin Hester, you need to wake up. Why isn't Hester just returning kicks to help the Bears win the field position game? Why not spend some money or make a trade to acquire a receiver? Congrats to Cutler for his extension, basically 2 years/$20 million. Inquisitive Mind 9 - 4 for the week.
Denver @ San Diego - Break them up now. The Chargers are done. Last year they came back and made the playoffs, but this team is done. I just can't explain not getting any pressure on Kyle Orton the entire game and letting the Broncos just run all over them. Eddie Royal, you are a bad, bad, bad man. Inquisitive Mind 9 - 5 for the week.
Well, it seems we're stuck on this 9-5 thing. I gotta make some headway here. Any advice for me? Maybe that's what I need to be doing from here on out. Asking for help. For the season I am 57-33.
I am an avid sports fan, here to talk about sports and anything else that I feel I need to expound on. Just my thoughts on paper, or a reasonable facsimile. Enjoy!!!

NFL Matchup Week 8
Back to the predicting. I'm 62-40 for the season so far. Not bad compared to some. It's week 8, my Fantasy team is 2-5 (I will have to post an updated Fantasy Football entry soon), and I need a drank. Let's see what's on tap for this week as we head into the half way mark.
Tampa Bay @ Dallas - Talk about starting with the game of the week. This is it. The Cowboys season on the brink. They get one of the better defenses in the league coming to town and they don't have their starting QB for at least another 2 weeks. I just don't see this turning out to well, unless someone calling the offensive plays for Dallas gives Marion Barber 30+ carries. The best way to help a young (or old in this case) QB is to give him a running game. So my advice for Dallas is to make sure Barber rests up today and tomorrow because he'll be carrying a big load on Sunday. This pick is tough. the Cowboys could win, but I just don't think that they will. Winners - Bucs.
Washington @ Detroit - The Redskins need this win badly to stay ahead of the pack since their division will be rather hard fought this year. Detroit shouldn't give them any problems, but as we have seen in the past few weeks, that's why they play the games. Winner - Redskins.
Buffalo @ Miami - This ought to be a good game. The Bills are getting hit with injuries in on their defense, but their offense seemed in sync last week with Trent Edwards back in the saddle after his concussion. Miami always has wrinkles in their game plan from an offensive standpoint and that may give the Bills some issues. I expect a big game from Marshawn Lynch and the Bills to come out on top. Winner - Bills.
St. Louis @ New England - After destroying the Broncos last week, the Patriots get the Rams in New England. Quietly the Patriots are 4-2 and are putting together a nice season without the injured Tom Brady. The Rams have shown fight, most recently by beating the Cowboys and I expect this game to be closer than some may think. I gotta go with the home team on this one though. There's just something about playing in Foxboro that doesn't bode well for the Rams. Winner - Patriots.
San Diego @ New Orleans - Both teams come in with lots of injuries. Is this finally the game that we see the real LT for the first time this season? Drew Brees had a terrible day against the Panthers last week and I look for him to rebound. The Chargers offensive line has got to step up and give Rivers, LT, Gates, and the rest of that team time to do what they do best, score. Look for this game to be a shootout. Winner - Chargers.
Kansas City @ New York Jets - With LJ out again this week and the Chiefs starting (who is their starting QB?) whomever at the QB spot, I don't imagine that this will be an entertaining game unless you're a Jets fan. The Jets have a lot of making up to do with their fans after that 'L' they took against the sorry Raiders. It's time for Brett Favre to escape all of this talk about him giving away secrets and play well this week. Winner - Jets.
Atlanta @ Philadelphia - The Falcons are quietly having a decent season with a rookie QB, but I expect this game to be a big test for Matt Ryan. The Eagles defense will cause a lot of problems for the Falcons and on the offensive side of the ball, Donovan McNabb and (hopefully) Westbrook will give the Falcons defense fits. This is at the 'Linc' and the Eagles should dominate. Winner - Eagles.
Oakland @ Baltimore - The Ravens are 3-3 and they get a gift of the Raiders at home. The Ravens defense has played well all year (minus that one game against the Colts) and Oakland isn't ready for prime time yet. The Raiders are playing hard for their new coach, Tom Cable, but the Ravens don't give up a lot of yards on the ground and they are a tough out. Terrell Suggs has been the centerpiece of the Ravens this week by discussing the 'bounty' that the Ravens had on some of the Steelers and the fact that he is behind Troy Smith being the starting QB on their team. Let's see if Suggs is mad enough over the heat he caught this week to do some damage. Winner - Ravens.
Arizona @ Carolina - The Panthers put on a clinic last week and hope to do a lot of the same this week when the Cardinals come to town. The Panthers offense is clicking with both running backs being effective and Jake Delhomme playing great after Tommy John surgery last year. the Cardinals come in with hopes of having Anquan Boldin back in the lineup after he recovered from a fractured sinus. The Cardinals have been able to put up points even without Boldin in the lineup, but I think the Panthers defense will put s stop to that. Winner - Panthers.
Cleveland @ Jacksonville - The only thing that has been going on in Cleveland is staph infection. It also seems that the NFL will be looking into this. Nevertheless, the Browns come in after a disappointing showing against the Redskins ( a game they should have won) and they look forward to taking it to the Jaguars. The Jaguars are a solid team but may be without Matt Jones if he doesn't appeal his suspension. Cleveland couldn't hold Clinton Portis last week and I think they have their hands filled with Maurice Jones-Drew and Fred Taylor. Winner - Jaguars.
Cincinnati @ Houston - With many Bengals season ticket holders putting their tickets out for sale, below face value, the Bengals may enjoy playing on the road a little more. Now they get the Texans who have quietly played well as of late. The Texans are sporting a 2-4 record but both Jacksonville and Indianapolis are 3-3, not bad. Andre Johnson is a beast at receiver and will continue against an average Bengals secondary. Ryan Fitzpatrick is going to start again in place of the injured (and out for the year, why don't they just go ahead and say that?) Carson Palmer. Things haven't looked good for the Bengals all year long and I don't expect them to get any better. Winner - Houston.
New York Giants @ Pittsburgh - The next 'Game of the Week' brings the might Giants of New York to Pittsburgh and the #1 defense in football. The Steelers are still banged up at the RB position and I don't think that Mewelde Moore has a good game against an equally impressive Giants defense. If Big Ben can get the ball in the air without getting hit too often, the Steelers have a chance. Santonio Holmes may have problems playing in this game since his mind is obviously elsewhere. Otherwise, look for Eli, Brandon Jacobs, and Plaxico to make all of the highlights. Winner - Giants.
Seattle @ San Francisco - The first game under the Mike Singletary regime and they get a gift of a wounded Seahawks team. This game should allow the 49ers to get a win if they can keep JT O'Sullivan locked in to this game. He has to be the key to this machine. Frank Gore should play well while the 49ers defense will, and I guarantee this, will knock someone out of this game. Winner - 49ers.
Indianapolis @ Tennessee - Peyton Manning gave us pause last week as he played a game without throwing for a TD. Next up, the Titans defense which has put the clamps on just about everyone. The Colts aren't ready for this game, at least in my mind and the Titans have be winning with defense and two running backs pounding the ball. The Colts defense up front is too small to stop LenDale White, so I imagine that this gets out of hand pretty quickly. Winner - Titans.
So those are my picks. I get to change them if I see something prior to game time, but I think I'll stick with these.

NFL Matchup Week 7
Why do I continue to do this? I know, it's the love of the game and random chance that I may pick every game correctly at least one week, right? Well, we're almost at the halfway point and we have some good games coming up this week. Lots of questions about some of the stars in the league and injuries always play a big role. On to the picks.
San Diego @ Buffalo - This should be a very interesting game. Buffalo (4-1) is coming off a bye, while San Diego (3-3) is coming off of destroying the Patriots. The Bills are trying to establish themselves as a power in the AFC while they have to be concerned with starting Trent Edwards this week after a concussion. The Chargers are fighting an up hill battle to make the playoffs and to right their ship at the halfway point. I soooo want to pick the Bills in this game because it's at home, but I can't. The Chargers haven't even given me anything to make me want to pick them, but I gotta go with my gut. Winner - Chargers.
Minnesota @ Chicago - I would say that this game ought to be fun but I think that each team leaves you wanting. The Vikings have got to get AP 'on'. He hasn't had a great game yet this year and this is the team that he tore off 200+ yards against last year. The Bears have just been inconsistent, losing to the Falcons, but beating the Eagles and the Colts. The Bears offense seems to be clicking but the defense is a step slow this year. The Bears aren't going to let AP get off on them again, especially at home. Winner - Bears.
Pittsburgh @ Cincinnati - Carson Palmer is out again and he was visiting the Mets doctors last week while in NY, Ocho Cinco says that he is being punished by the team and they aren't calling his number during games, none of these are good things. The Steelers come in a little banged up with Willie Parker reinjuring his knee, but I think the Steelers defense should be ready to dominate Ryan Fitzpatrick, even while in Cincy. Winner - Steelers.
Tennessee @ Kansas City - With LJ out for whatever reasons, I just don't even see this being a contest (every time I've said this the worst team wins, bet on KC). The Titans are coming off a bye and they normally don't lose when that happens. Winner - Titans.
Dallas @St. Louis - This is a big game for the Cowboys. All of the drama that they have been through over the past week will need to be forgotten. The Rams came into Washington last week and shocked the Redskins, but the Cowboys can't let that happen or any hopes they have of making the Super Bowl will come down to a travel agent. Will Romo play is the big question, but the other question is are there enough balls for TO and Roy Williams? Winner - Cowboys.
Baltimore @ Miami - Just what your rookie QB Joe Flacco needs, the head coach dumping on this week's opponent. Jim Harbaugh, in an effort to stand with his offensive coordinator, Cam Cameron (formerly the head coach of the 1-15 Dolphins), basically said the Dolphins didn't have a lot of talent and that 1-15 record was about as good as anyone could have done with that team. Well, we know that no other bulletin board material needs to be put up. I'm actually going with the fired up team. Winner - Dolphins.
San Francisco @ New York Giants - After laying an egg against the Browns, I expect the real Giants to show up. San Fran had been riding a wave, but it all crashed down on them. The Giants should dominate and make a statement. If they don't, they should just be happy with getting rings last year. Winner - Giants.
New Orleans @ Carolina - The movable object meets the immovable force. Drew Brees is on track to catch Dan Marino for most yards in a season and he comes up against this good/great Panther D. The difference in this game will be the Saints defense or lack thereof. Let's go for the hometown favorites. Winner - Panthers.
Detroit @ Houston - Who really wants to watch this game unless your a Texans fan? i doubt anyone in Detroit would even be remotely interested. Houston has played tough and may be turning that corner as they learn how to win games. Yes they won to a hapless Dolphin team last week, but hey the Dolphins have been giant killers lately. Gotta go with the home team on this one. Winner - Texans.
New York Jets @ Oakland - Brett Favre already talking retirement. That's code for give me a breather Mangini. He should get one with the Jets pounding the ball with Thomas Jones. Oakland has played decently as of late, OK, I tried to sneak that one in there. The Raiders should put up some points, but never contend. Winner - Jets.
Indianapolis @ Green Bay - Peyton Manning will really get a chance to test out his knee in some cold weather. There won't be snow, but the forecast should be colder than that new stadium they play in. The Packers running game is hurting while their QB and their defense seem to carry the team. Indianapolis went lights out against the Ravens last week, although they did lose Joseph Addai with a partially torn hammy. Look for my main man, Dominic Rhodes, to get all of the carries and the Colts start winning some more games. Winner - Colts.
Cleveland @ Washington - One team comes off of an embarrassing loss, the other comes off of a win that few expected. Which one is ready to play this game? Derek Anderson looked great against a Giants defense on Monday night while the Redskins lost to the lowly Rams. I expect the Redskins to be fired up and come out of the gate with more intensity. Even in their loss, Clinton Portis had 100+ yards and some TDs. Maybe Shaun Alexander gets some tick this week as a backup. Winner - Redskins.
Seattle @ Tampa Bay - Another butt whuppin waiting to happen. The Bucs defense has played brilliantly all season and they come up against a hurting Seahawks team. The Seahawks have to travel accross country, but at least this is the late game on Sunday night. Garcia is back at the helm for the Bucs and I think they take this one home, well they win at home and stay atop the NFC South. Winner - Bucs.
Denver @ New England - With all of these wide receivers using their mouths more than their hands (TO, Ocho Cinco, etc.) there's one person absent from all of the talking, Randy Moss. I expect that to end after this game. The Pats have a decent defense but their offense lacks spark when Brady is sitting at home in a knee brace. Matt Cassell isn't the answer and Moss knows he doesn't have too many more chances to get that ring, since this year is already over. Moss normally gets shut down by Champ Bailey in these affairs, so I imagine that this will continue on Monday night. Winner - Broncos.
