NFL Week 15 Picks

Have to do these real quick.

New England @ Buffalo - Pats won't lose this game. Winner - Patriots.

Arizona @ Detroit - We know the Cardinals can play, but which team shows up? Winner - Cardinals.

Miami @ Tennessee - Vince Young is a little banged up, but the Dolphins need this game badly. Winner - Titans.

Cleveland @ Kansas City - Two bad teams, but you gotta believe in the Chiefs at home. Winner - Chiefs.

Houston @ St. Louis - Texans all day. Winner - Texans.

Atlanta @ New York Jets - Not Ryan, but probably Turner gets some burn in this game. The Jets defense is still close to the tops in the league, surprising. Winner - Jets.

Oakland @ Denver - Looking for Denver to show us what kind of team they are. Winner - Broncos.

Cincinnati @ San Diego - Tough game for the Bengals with the loss of Henry. The Chargers are catching fire at the right time of the year. Winner - Chargers.

Tampa Bay @ Seattle - Can the Seahawks finally win a game that they are supposed to. Winner - Seahawks.

Chicago @ Baltimore - I don't trust the Bears and the Ravens need this one. Winner - Ravens.

San Francisco @ Philadelphia - Are the Eagles for real? The Cowboys pulled off the upset and put pressure on the Eagles to win this week. Winner - Eagles.

Green Bay @ Pittsburgh - I'm thinking that the Steelers finally show up. They can't keep losing like this, can they? Winner - Packers.

Minnesota @ Carolina - I expect the big boys for the Vikings to play for only 3 quarters. Winner - Vikings.

New York Giants @ Washington - How much snow will make this game interesting? This is a big game for both teams as they look up to the Eagles and the Cowboys are right there. A mild upset. Winner - Redskins.

Hope in Washington

No this isn't about Health care Reform, but about a different kind of reform. The Washington Redskins have gotten rid of Vinny Cerrato (he resigned) and brought in Bruce Allen as the new General Manager of the Redskins. Bruce Allen is the son of the late Redskins Hall of Fame coach George Allen and comes from a rich football background. The younger Allen (Bruce) has been the GM in Oakland and at Tampa Bay. In both cases he helped build those teams and they went to the Superbowl. With that said, things in Washington look like they are on the rise with Allen in the fold.

Will this help the Redskins to come back? Can Allen take the GM reigns and keep Dan Snyder from further destroying this team? Will the Redskins be relevant again? When?

A Tiger By the Tail?

Well, it seems, according to ABC news, that Tiger and Elin are getting a divorce. Well, Elin is divorcing Tiger based on his indiscretions. Can we say that we didn't see this coming? I guarantee that she goes for the money. All I can hear is Jesper Parnevik saying 'Elin loved him and it wasn't about the money or fame'. Jesper essentially gave Elin the Megamillions numbers when he hooked her up with Tiger. Don't give me she was a model and all that, she was a nanny for Jesper. With that said, her being with Tiger or leaving him means she has access to the world, regardless. I just hope that Tiger had a good attorney to draw up that pre-nup. Cut her a check for her $20+ million and tell her to burn the road up is what I say. Tiger has made over a billion dollars. Cut her a check for $60 million and invite the boys over to the crib for the party.
Tiger will make it past this. It really wasn't a big deal from the beginning, but the media sunk their horns into it. Yes he made a mistake, but always remember, no one sin is bigger than the next. What's your take?

Chris Henry Dies

Sad word from Charlotte, NC. Chris Henry, the troubled wide receiver from the Cincinnati Bengals, died today from falling off the back of a pickup truck. Henry had a troubled past of arrests, but this year it seems as though he turned it all around. He dedicated himself to his family more and now he's gone at the young age of 26. There are lots of stories going around about the accident that caused his death and I for one have no information that I can credibly assess. With that said, take some time out of your day today to wish his family well, and make sure that you hug someone that's important in your life. Life is indeed truly short. Rest in peace Chris Henry.

NFL Week 15 Picks - Thursday and Saturday Night Games

Indianapolis @ Jacksonville - The Colts are coming off yet another win, but they are a little banged up. They say that they are going to play their starters to win the game with no one getting time off. The Jaguars normally play the Colts tough, especially at home. The Colts should lose this game because it's a short week for them, but I think they pull this one out. Winner - Colts.

Dallas @ New Orleans - The best game of the week. The Cowboys come in needing a win desperately in the month of December. They can't seem to win. The Saints come in with swagger, but their games have been a lot closer than they probably have wanted in the past few weeks. The question is, can the Dallas defense stop the Saints offense? I say no. Winner - Saints.

NFL Week 14 Wrap Up

It's coming, give me some time.

Back on the Scene

My boy NYSTOM is back with his proficiency rankings to give you a picture of how he sees the NBA. He's been on a self imposed hiatus (sounds like Tiger), and add to my full schedule and that's why we're just getting to these.

Since the season is young, I don't have much to say about the rankings, yet.

What do you think? Is NYSTOM already on some different stuff this year?

NFL Week 14 Picks

After that debacle on Thursday night, we definitely have some work to do.

New Orleans @ Atlanta - No chance for the Falcons. No Turner, No Ryan, and basically a rookie starting at QB. At least they are at home. Winner - Saints.

Green Bay @ Chicago - Should actually be a good game if you're a Packers fan. You get to go to Chicago and beat your arch rival. Probably badly. Winner - Packers.

New York Jets @ Tampa Bay - This is going to be a very interesting game. No Sanchez and the Bucs have been playing well. I think the Bucs enjoy a close win at home and maybe we'll see Ryan crying again afterwards. Winner - Bucs.

Miami @ Jacksonville - This is the Jaguars 'down' week and they get a Dolphins team that is making this AFC East race a little tougher. Tough pick, good weather game (minus the possible storms). My gut tells me to go with the hungrier team. Winner - Dolphins.

Detroit @ Baltimore - The Ravens need a win and they get the Lions. You're welcome. Winner - Ravens.

Seattle @ Houston - Which team shows up? The hungry Texans team or the Seahawks team from last week? This is a coin flip. Winner - Texans.

Denver @ Indianapolis - Ought to be a good game. The Colts are looking to stay undefeated and then they get a Denver team that needs a win to keep pace with the Chargers. This is a home game for the Colts and I'm not sold on the Broncos being able to win the big ones yet. Winner -
Colts.

Buffalo @ Kansas City - Two bad teams. Kansas City plays well at home and I think they get a win against a bad Bills team. Winner - Chiefs.

Cincinnati @ Minnesota - A great game. The Bengals bring a good resume into the Metrodome and they get a wounded Vikings team. When will the Vikings work on their running game? Hopefully they'll start today. Winner - Vikings.

Carolina @ New England - Two banged up teams. Brady is hurt and purportedly at about 70%. The two running backs from the Panthers, Stewart and Williams, are dinged up. Adalius Thomas won't start because he called out Belicheat. Anybody ready for some football? Winner - Patriots.

Washington @ Oakland - Yes the Raiders did the unthinkable last week, but no way they do it two games in a row. I'm liking the Redskins again. Winner - Redskins.

St. Louis @ Tennessee - Vince Young is banged up and they get the Rams at home. Worst case scenario, the Titans might have to play Collins and they should still win. Winner - Titans.

San Diego @ Dallas - Can the Cowboys win in December? I can't knowingly pick the Cowboys. Winner - Chargers.

Philadelphia @ New York Giants - The Giants haven't showed me anything. I started the season saying that this front 4 could be the most dangerous in the league and look what has happened? The Eagles need a win and should have explosive Jackson back in the lineup. Winner - Eagles.

Arizona @ San Francisco - Can the 49ers slow down this Cardinals team? I'm not sure, but you never count out a Samurai Mike led team. Winner - Cardinals.

Thursday, December 10, 2009

NFL Week 14 Picks - Thursday Night

Pittsburgh @ Cleveland - Steelers can't stop anyone with this defense. Could become a shootout. The better team should win, even without Hines Ward. Winner - Steelers.

NFL Week 13 Wrap Up

Still a little sick and then add to the fact that the day job is picking up,......whew!!!!

Buffalo @ New York Jets - Jets finally show up and do some good. Can they repeat this feat next week? Inquisitive Mind 1 - 0 for the week.

Philadelphia @ Atlanta - McNabb had a good game and the Falcons are too beat up to really do anything. I feel sorry for them because they have been good this year, but now they are pretty much done with injuries to Ryan and Turner. Inquisitive Mind 2 - 0 for the week.

St. Louis @ Chicago - Talk about a closer game than you expected. The Bears are bad and the only good thing is that the Rams are worse. Inquisitive Mind 3 - 0 for the week.

Detroit @ Cincinnati - The Bengals push on and beat the teams that they are supposed to beat. The Bengals are going to be dangerous this year in the playoffs. Benson looked to be back and healthy from that injured hip. Inquisitive Mind 4 - 0 for the week.

Oakland @ Pittsburgh - Talk about a bad game for the Steelers. They can't seem to close anyone out again. They get the Raiders at home and lay an egg. Inquisitive Mind 4 - 1 for the week.

Tennessee @ Indianapolis - Well, this was a homer pick. I just thought the Titans could pull the upset. They played pretty well, but at the end, Manning was the difference. Inquisitive Mind 4 - 2 for the week.

Denver @ Kansas City - WOW!!! This Broncos team looked like the team that started the season 6 - 0. They needed this win and need to put together a string to make some noise and hopefully catch up with the Chargers. Inquisitive Mind 5 - 2 for the week.

New England @ Miami - Brady had a great game but a late field goal won it for the Dolphins. Maybe they aren't dead for the year. The AFC playoff race is heating up. Inquisitive Mind 5 - 3 for the week.

New Orleans @ Washington - Overtime. Really? I told you that the Redskins were going to make this close. They seem to be turning the corner, albeit way too late. Great game. Inquisitive mind 6 - 3 for the week.

Tampa Bay @ Carolina - If the Panthers can keep Delhomme off the field, they'll win a little more. Inquisitive Mind 7 - 3 for the week.

Houston @ Jacksonville - Well, the Jaguars 'up' week was better than the Texans. Gary Kubiak, pack your bags baby, it's over. Inquisitive Mind 7 - 4 for the week.

San Diego @ Cleveland - How do you let the Browns score 23 points? I mean they can't do that in practice. Inquisitive Mind 8 - 4 for the week.

Dallas @ New York Giants - The Cowboys can't get it done when they need to. Why don't they just skip December each season and they just forfeit the games for that month? That way you don't expect them to win. Inquisitive Mind 8 - 5 for the week.

San Francisco @ Seattle - Alex Smith had a great game, but the Seahawks were able to bend but not break and get this win. What in the hell is up with Housmandzadeh?!?!? Inquisitive Mind 8 - 6 for the week.

Minnesota @ Arizona - Arrrgh!!!!! The Cardinals? You let the Cardinals beat you at home? Sad. Inquisitive Mind 8 - 7 for the week.

Baltimore @ Green Bay - Well, the Packers were able to really shut down the Ravens on offense. The Ravens defense played pretty well for at least half the game. Inquisitive Mind 8 - 8 for the week.

This is the worst week we've had. It really sucks when you pick this bad. I guess, the silver lining, is there's always next week. Have we kept pace with the experts? 127 - 65 for the season.

NFL Week 13 Picks

Sick and it's a bad time to be sick. Started the week 1 - with the Jets on Thursday.

Philadelphia @ Atlanta - Must win game for both teams. The Eagles are without Westbrook and Jackson. The Falcons are without Ryan and Turner. With that said, gotta go with the Eagles. Winner - Eagles.

St. Louis @ Chicago - The Bears should win this game, but I can see them losing this game. Winner - Bears.

Detroit @ Cincinnati - The Bengals in a rout. Winner - Bengals.

Oakland @ Pittsburgh - The Raiders get to travel all the way to Pittsburgh to see Big Ben back on the field. Big Ben I need you this week (fantasy). Winner - Steelers.

Tennessee @ Indianapolis - I think that the Colts finally lose a game. This Titans team is hot and they will go only as well as Vince Young plays. Winner - Titans.

Denver @ Kansas City - This is a close pick. The Chiefs have shown heart the last few weeks. Winner - Denver.

New England @ Miami - Too much Brady, Moss, and Welker. Winner - Patriots.

New Orleans @ Washington - This will be a close game. You might think I'm crazy, but this will be a close game. Winner - Saints.

Tampa Bay @ Carolina - Finally the Panthers bench Delhomme. Can they win without him? Winner - Panthers.

Houston @ Jacksonville - Jacksonville was down last week, so this is there up week. Houston comes into town and they are looking good. Winner - Texans.

San Diego @ Cleveland - Nothing to say. Winner - Chargers.

Dallas @ New York Giants - Should be a good game. The Cowboys have to show me something. The Giants are banged up. Winner - Cowboys.

San Francisco @ Seattle - The Seahawks just haven't showed me anything. Winner - 49ers.

Minnesota @ Arizona - Leinart is probably going to start. That's not good for the Cardinals. Winner - Vikings.

Baltimore @ Green Bay - Great Monday Night game. The Ravens are trying to make it to the playoffs and they need this win. Always bet on Ray Lewis. Winner - Ravens.

Thursday, December 03, 2009

NFL Week 13 Picks - Thursday Night

Only one game tonight.

Buffalo @ New York Jets - The Bills looked like a team on fire last week. The Jets looked like a team going in the wrong direction. I've been on the Jets for most of the year and I guess I gotta keep riding them because I can't see myself picking the Bills. Winner - Jets.

Tiger Roars (well almost)

As we all know, Tiger Woods has been on the front page over the last few days for something not associated with golf (unless the rumor is true that his wife chased him with an iron in her hand and busted out the window in the Escalade). He posted the following comment on his website this morning:

I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart. I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves. I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect. I am dealing with my behavior and personal failings behind closed doors with my family. Those feelings should be shared by us alone.

But no matter how intense curiosity about public figures can be, there is an important and deep principle at stake which is the right to some simple, human measure of privacy. I realize there are some who don't share my view on that. But for me, the virtue of privacy is one that must be protected in matters that are intimate and within one's own family. Personal sins should not require press releases and problems within a family shouldn't have to mean public confessions.

Whatever regrets I have about letting my family down have been shared with and felt by us alone. I have given this a lot of reflection and thought and I believe that there is a point at which I must stick to that principle even though it's difficult.

I will strive to be a better person and the husband and father that my family deserves. For all of those who have supported me over the years, I offer my profound apology.

Is this finally over? I mean, Tiger still has money and those people that are going to hate on him, probably already hated him. His car was tore up, but the fire hydrant and tree have been repaired/restored. His image is tarnished and he'll probably have to answer questions when he does come in front of the media during his next event, but in the end, this should all be done.

Two interesting things:

1) Supposedly Tiger called one of his boys afterwards and said he needed a 'Kobe Special'. His friend asked what that was and Tiger's reply was 'a ring with a house on it'. That's priceless.

2) Why did everyone lawyer up after this hit? Tiger lawyered up, Ms. Uchitel lawyered up, Tiger's neighbor lawyered up, the fire hydrant and the tree got lawyers, and I am wondering why?!?!?!

You can always go home

Allen Iverson has signed a non-guaranteed 1 year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers. Iverson's time with the 76ers seemed to be over a few years ago when they traded him to the Denver Nuggets. Iverson returns to the 76ers due to the injury to Lou Williams (jaw) who will be out for almost 2 months. The good part about this team is that Iverson has a chance to show people that he can play and distribute the ball because this is one of the most talented teams that he's been on.

Is this a good move for the 76ers? Can Iverson show us something different than he's showed in Denver and Memphis? Is this the sad end to a great career for possibly the best little big man in the game?

NFL Week 12 Wrap Up

Another good week.

Green Bay @ Detroit - My bad, Stafford did play. I'm pretty sure he wished he didn't. What's the record for interceptions in a year? Inquisitive Mind 1 - 0 for the week.

Oakland @ Dallas - The Cowboys finally beat a team that they were supposed to beat. I mean it was the Raiders. They really shouldn't be too happy about this win, but they stay alive in the race for supremacy in the NFC LEAST. Inquisitive Mind 2 - 0 for the week.

New York Giants @ Denver - Let me see, you get a wounded Kyle Orton and you still lose this game to a decent Denver team when you're supposed to be THE team in the NFC LEAST? Orton threw for 245 yards on a very bad ankle. Giants fans, you are one game from just giving up for the season. I guess we really do miss Plaxico. Inquisitive Mind 2 -1 for the week.

Tampa Bay @ Atlanta - Chris Redman. Tell me anything about him and you get some cyber HI-C drinks. The Falcons waited to the end of the game to snare this victory from the jaws of defeat. I feel bad for the Bucs, but at least we know they are building a good team down there. Inquisitive Mind 3 - 1 for the week.

Miami @ Buffalo - Well there goes the playoffs for the Dolphins. You guys let T.O. get lose and made Fitzpatrick look like a good QB. Where's the defense? Inquisitive Mind 3 - 2 for the week.

Cleveland @ Cincinnati - Not the high scoring affair that I thought the Bengals would put up, but Larry Johnson got his carries and looked good. I guess we all knew the Browns didn't have a chance to win this game. Inquisitive Mind 4 - 2 for the week.

Seattle @ St. Louis - The Seahawks are a bad team. I mean if it weren't for turnovers, the Rams would have won this game. T.J. where ya been all season?!?!?!? Inquisitive Mind 5 - 2 for the week.

Carolina @ New York Jets - Which team had the rookie QB? All I have to say is look at Delhomme's line: 14 of 34 for 130 yards, 0 TDs, and 4 INTs. Inquisitive Mind 5 - 3 for the week.

Washington @ Philadelphia - Are you kidding me? I'm still mad at Andy Reid for that onside kick. What the fuqq is he thinking? I mean the Eagles are good and they were playing the Redskins, but you do that kind of stuff when you're the Vikings playing a team with all 2nd stringers on offense. Not to a team that you are thismuch better than. Inquisitive Mind 6 - 3 for the week.

Indianapolis @ Houston - Well there goes all of the talk about the Texans being thisclose to a good team. They get blown out in a span of 8 minutes against the Colts. Gary Kubiak, pack your bags baby. Inquisitive Mind 7 - 3 for the week.

Kansas City @ San Diego - Maybe the Chargers should just forfeit the first 4 games of each season and just start later than everyone else. They are starting to round in to form and they are looking as dangerous as many (including me) thought they would be at the beginning of the season. Inquisitive Mind 8 - 3 for the week.

Jacksonville @ San Francisco - Like I said, the Jaguars are up and down and this happened to be a down week. Congrats to the 49ers for taking advantage of this win. Inquisitive Mind 9 - 3 for the week.

Chicago @ Minnesota - Talk about taking a teams' heart out and just eating it right in front of them. How old is Brett Favre? He looked great against this Bears defense. The worst thing for the Bears, they lost Briggs and Tillman, and they get to play these Vikings again in a few weeks. Inquisitive Mind 10 - 3 for the week.

Arizona @ Tennessee - I'm giving you, Jeff Fisher, the middle finger. This Titans team could have played better with VY in there, but no, you decided to stick with Kerry Collins. Collins wasn't that good in Carolina and he managed games last year. The Titans are going to spoil some playoff teams' week over the next few games. Inquisitive Mind 11 - 3 for the week.

Pittsburgh @ Baltimore - C'mon Ray. You guys had a rookie 3rd stringer on the field and you allowed him to take you to overtime?!?!?!? I'm just glad the Ravens were able to pull this one out. They still got a lot of work yet to do. Inquisitive Mind 12 - 3 for the week.

New England @ New Orleans - Take your coat, your hat, and leave $(#$)@$. I guess that's all the Patriots heard after this game. Drew Brees looked like he was playing against the kids in those NFL Play60 commercials. Brees was 18 of 23 for 371 yards and 5 TDs. That's amazing. No one wants to play those Saints at home in the playoffs. Inquisitive Mind 13 - 3 for the week.

We are catching them. 119-57 for the season. The experts should be paying attention now.

Sorry Charlie!!!

We all knew this was going to happen, right? Finally the University of Notre Dame decided to part ways with Charlie Weis. Weis came to the Golden Domers as an offensive genius out of the New England Patriots stable of good coaches. Weis' genius never amounted to anything and his record at Notre Dame was 35 - 27 which was 3rd worst among coaches with 3 years of coaching at the famed university.

Supposedly, several NFL teams have already contacted Weis about coming on board with them. I just don't get it, he wasn't that good in the first place but the opportunities keep coming. Talk about the luck of the Irish.

My only question is what took so long?!?!?

NFL Week 12 Picks

Those first three games were good for us on Thanksgiving day, but let's get to the rest of the week.

Tampa Bay @ Atlanta - Finally a game for the Falcons, who have taken some tough losses lately, to win. They get a Bucs teams that seems to have found a way to play and at least make it interesting. The Falcons need this win too bad. Winner - Falcons.

Miami @ Buffalo - Well, a must win for both teams. The Bills just need some consistency and they would be beating a team in their division and Miami needs this game to stay in playoff contention and they would be beating a team in their division. The Dolphins will see if Ricky Williams can turn in another spectacular game. I think their defense wins this game for them. Winner - Dolphins.

Cleveland @ Cincinnati - Tomato cans are lined up for the Bengals to increase their lead in the AFC. Does anyone think the Browns are going to win this game? I can't even see that happening. Winner - Bengals.

Seattle @ St. Louis - Should actually be a decent game. The Seahawks get to play on carpet and I'm expecting an explosion from them on offense. The Rams are trying to piece this season together and as of late have played pretty well. I expect them to continue to do that, but for some reason, I have the Seahawks in this one. Winner - Seahawks.

Carolina @ New York Jets - This is a game the Jets need because they are going backwards. The rookie QB is looking exactly like one and that Jet defense is looking more like a sieve than a stopper. The Panthers are so up and down that it's hard to pick them. They can run the ball but when they put it in Delhomme's hands, it's real shaky. Winner - Panthers.

Washington @ Philadelphia - Home sweet home. The Eagles get a home game and just in time for Donovan to catch fire. The Redskins actually have a decent defense and should cause some problems for the Eagles, but the Eagles are a big play team now without Westbrook. Winner - Eagles.

Indianapolis @ Houston - Will the Colts continue undefeated? They go to Houston to face a tough team who is on the verge of finally turning the corner of being one of those teams that is up and coming. This will be a good game, but I gotta go with the Colts. I can see an upset, but I'm note sure the Texans have that kind of luck this week. Winner - Colts.

Kansas City @ San Diego - Can the Chargers put some distance between them and the Broncos? This game is up to the Chargers defense. They are playing well and this is a home game. Winner - Chargers.

Jacksonville @ San Francisco - Time for Samurai Mike's team to get back to winning. Jacksonville is as up and down as the Panthers. This should be a down week. Winner - 49ers.

Chicago @ Minnesota - How many pics can Cutler throw? We actually might find out in this game. Winner - Vikings.

Arizona @ Tennessee - Kurt Warner is questionable. Without him, they don't have a chance. But you'll get an opportunity to see Vince Young and Matt Leinart face off against each other again. That ought to at least provide some headlines. Winner - Titans.

Pittsburgh @ Baltimore - No Big Ben, no Polamalu, no chance. Ravens must be luckiest team in the league. Winner - Ravens.

New England @ New Orleans - Big time game for both teams. I'm looking at the over under on this to be somewhere in the 80's. The Pats seem to be on a roll and I think they go to the dome and bring the pain in this game (mucho points), but in the end, I gotta go with dem Saints. Winner - Saints.

NFL Week 12 Picks - Thursday

Yes, I know I'm late, but I gotta make my picks. Real quick!!!!

Green Bay @ Detroit - Packers and big with no Stafford playing. Winner - Packers.

Oakland @ Dallas - Can the Cowboys FINALLY show up?!?!? Cowboys big. Winner - Cowboys.

New York Giants @ Denver - Should be a good game with the Giants defense finally showing it's true form. Winner - Giants.

Happy Thanksgiving

I hope that all of you are truly thankful for all the things that you have, I mean the people in your life. Enjoy!!!

NFL Week 11 Wrap Up

Not too bad this week. Let's review.

Miami @ Carolina - What in the world happened? I mean the Panthers couldn't run the ball, but the Dolphins came out and had a giant killer performance from Ricky Williams. How bad must the Panthers feel that the paid Delhomme all that money and he's playing like this? Inquisitive Mind 0 - 1 for the week.

Washington @ Dallas - 7 points? 7 freakin points? You want me to take you seriously and you score 7 points against the Redskins and barely win? 7 freakin points!!!! Inquisitive Mind 1 - 1 for the week.

Cleveland @ Detroit - What a game? I mean no one thought this would be a shootout, but it turned into a fun game. Brady Quin looked good and Stafford showed us that he can play and more importantly that he's tough enough. Inquisitive Mind 2 - 1 for the week.

San Francisco @ Green Bay - Another good game and finally the Packers turned in a quality performance. Rodgers threw for 340+ yards, Ryan Grant had a monster game on the ground, and their defense played pretty well for the majority of the game. Is this the start of something good? Inquisitive Mind 3 - 1 for the week.

New Orleans @ Tampa Bay - Well, it took the Saints some time to start rolling but they finally did. Next week is the real test for Saints anyway. Inquisitive Mind 4 - 1 for the week.

Pittsburgh @ Kansas City - You have to be kidding me? The Steelers defense seems to suck without Polamalu. I mean they couldn't stop this Chiefs offense. Let that settle for a second. Then Big Ben gets knocked out of the game when they need him. Then Charlie Batch breaks his wrist and is out for the next 6 weeks. Time to start panicking in Pittsburgh. Inquisitive Mind 4 - 2 for the week.

Atlanta @ New York Giants - The Giants woke up. They won a game that they needed to win. Yes it took them overtime, but they won. I feel sorry for Atlanta because they have lost several close ones in the last few weeks. Inquisitive Mind 5 - 2 for the week.

Buffalo @ Jacksonville - I feel sorry for T.O. as he gets 197 yards receiving and they lose this close game to the Jaguars. He's gotta be thisclose to losing it. Inquisitive Mind 6 - 2 for the week.

Indianapolis @ Baltimore - They almost did it. I mean the Ravens almost pulled the upset, but their offense kept getting in the way. Inquisitive Mind 7 - 2 for the week.

Seattle @ Minnesota - Brett Favre is that good when you are worried about AP. Teams are making Favre throw and he is showing that although he's an old man, that right arm has some magic left in it. Inquisitive Mind 8 - 2 for the week.

Arizona @ St. Louis - Kurt Warner looked like his old days in St. Louis and the Cardinals continued to play well on the road. Kurt took a hit late and Matt Leinart finished the game, but if Warner is hurt for any extended period of time, the Cardinals are done because Leinart isn't good. I'm surprised by that. Inquisitive Mind 9 -2 for the week.

New York Jets @ New England - So goes the Patriots. They are steam rolling teams and they probably enjoyed spanking the Jets. Inquisitive Mind 10 - 2 for the week.

Cincinnati @ Oakland - Bruce Gradkowski. Has to be the answer to a trivia question somewhere. Finally the Raiders benched Russell and guess what, they won. I wonder if Russell still thinks this isn't his fault. Inquisitive Mind 10 - 3 for the week.

San Diego @ Denver - You know it's bad when you get pulled and they send in the injured player that you started over. Chris Simms, this is your life. Inquisitive Mind 11 - 3 for the week.

Philadelphia @ Chicago - The Bears almost pulled this off, but in the end, they got terrible QB play from the franchise. You can't miss that many times in a close game Jay. Inquisitive Mind 12 - 3 for the week.

Tennessee @ Houston - Vince Young. Another answer to a trivia question. This team has gone 4 - 0 since VY has started. He actually has won his last 8 games that he has started. Where is Kerry Collins? He could always go back to Carolina. Inquisitive Mind 13 - 3 for the week.

Great week. We're at 106 - 54 for the year. We're gaining ground.

NFL Week 11 Picks

Washington @ Dallas - Easy one right? The Cowboys should win this game running away from the Redskins and it's at home. I actually have some trepidation about picking this game. Winner - Cowboys.

Cleveland @ Detroit - Can the Lions get another win or will the Browns pull the minor upset? I gotta go with the Lions on this one. Winner - Lions.

San Francisco @ Green Bay - Packers this is close to the Tampa Bay game, meaning one you should win. You get a 49ers team on your home turf and you need this win to stay alive in the playoff run. Winner - Packers.

Pittsburgh @ Kansas City - No chance, right? Winner - Steelers.

Atlanta @ New York Giants - First big game of the day. The Giants are in trouble. Another loss and they are essentially done for the year. The Falcons are just the kind of team to do it. I just don't believe that they will. Winner - Giants.

New Orleans @ Tampa Bay - I feel sorry for the Bucs, but you know, this is one of those games that wouldn't surprise me if the Bucs snuck a win. I don't think it'll happen, so I gotta go with the Saints. Winner - Saints.

Buffalo @ Jacksonville - Jacksonville. The Bills are that bad and T.O. hasn't made a statement there and it's definitely not popcorn worthy. Winner - Jaguars.

Indianapolis @ Baltimore - Ray, can you guys do it again? You guys need this win, but you're going up against the juggernaut, the undefeated Colts. Winner - Colts.

Seattle @ Minnesota - AP, I want a great day out of you. Favre doesn't need to throw the ball that much. Winner - Vikings.

Arizona @ St. Louis - Can the Cardinals surprise me two weeks in a row? I think that Kurt Warner returns to his old stomping grounds and picks up where he left off. Winner - Cardinals.

New York Jets @ New England - Pats are going to enjoy running the score up on this one. I expect to see more crying from Rex Ryan. Winner - Patriots.

Cincinnati @ Oakland - The Bengals lost their starting running back but they picked up Larry Johnson and I expect that we'll see him a little bit this game. They are playing the Raiders, who finally benched JaMarcus Russell, so this is like practice. Winner - Bengals.

San Diego @ Denver - The Chargers come to town riding high and off of their last few weeks. This is a battle for 1st in the AFC West. The Broncos will be starting Chris Simms. You can't tell me that Chris Simms will beat this Chargers defense. Can't see it happen. Winner - Chargers.

Philadelphia @ Chicago - Nothing about this game screams the Bears should win, but the Eagles are without Westbrook and haven't shown the ability to score within the red zone. If the Bears can't get get to McNabb, this is going to be sad. Winner - Eagles.

Tennessee @ Houston - Sorry Monday Night Football game. I doubt many will watch, but I'm looking to see if Vince young can pull it off yet again. The Titans go to Houston and it's going to be a high scoring game, but in the end, go with the original Houston team. Winner - Titans.

NFL Week 11 Picks - Thursday Night

Miami @ Carolina - No Ronnie Brown for the Dolphins and the Panthers have to play Jake Delhomme. Ok, quick and dirty because I am in class. Panthers because of their running game should win this game. Peppers will come up big and get them a win. Winner - Panthers.

NFL Week 10 Wrap Up

Chicago @ San Francisco - The Bears suck. That's all I can say. Inquisitive Mind 1 - 0 for the week.

New Orleans @ St. Louis - I'm sorry, I thought this was going to be a blowout and the Rams made it a good game. They almost won. I'm not really worried about the Saints either since they played this game without 2 starters in their defensive backfield. Great effort Rams. Inquisitive Mind 2 - 0 for the week.

Tampa Bay @ Miami - Talk about making things close for no reason. The Bucs put up another valiant effort but the Dolphins snuck this one out. I mean literally snuck one out. Inquisitive Mind 3 - 0 for the week.

Detroit @ Minnesota - It took a while but the Vikings finally decided to take control of this game. Favre threw for 300+ yards while Rice, who should be thanking Favre because he's going to get him a FAT paycheck, and AP did work. The Vikings defense played a little better and they are still the favorites to represent the NFC in the Superbowl, sorry Saints. Inquisitive Mind 4 - 0 for the week.

Jacksonville @ New York Jets - What happened to the darlings of New York? The rookie quarterback looks average at best, the defense can't stop anyone, and all I can see is a coach who is promising a lot and has a lot of bravado. Losing this one really hurt the Jets. Inquisitive Mind 4 - 1 for the week.

Buffalo @ Tennessee - Part of me feels sorry for T.O. It's really not his fault and it seems as though many people, the media, are really egging him on to start problems. The Titans are really showing people, including head coach Jeff Fisher that Vince Young might be exactly what this team needed. As the owner of the team Bud Adams showed, if you're hating on the Titans, take that. Inquisitive Mind 5 - 1 for the week.

Cincinnati @ Pittsburgh - Wow!!! The Bengals have beaten the Steelers and the Ravens twice. Let that sink in for a while. Gotta give them their due. Cedric Benson got hurt and the Bengals go out and sign Larry Johnson. Maybe things are going to finally turn around in Ohio. Inquisitive Mind 5 - 2 for the week.

Denver @ Washington - Wow!!! The Broncos are in trouble. they have lost 3 in a row and now Kyle Orton is hurt and Chris Simms does not look like the answer. Are the Broncos imploding yet again? Someone should hire a skywriter, the Redskins won. Inquisitive Mind 5 - 3 for the week.

Atlanta @ Carolina - Jake Delhomme and Steve Smith finally caught up with each other. Add this to their running game and the Panthers should be ruling the NFC South, but for some reason they can't get it all together. What's going on in Atlanta? Inquisitive Mind 6 - 3 for the week.

Kansas City @ Oakland - Two bad teams and only one team can win. Inquisitive Mind 7 - 3 for the week.

Seattle @ Arizona - The Cardinals decided to play well at home. Nothing you can do when this team is clicking if you can't get to the quarterback. Warner threw for 365 and 2 TDs. Inquisitive Mind 7 - 4 for the week.

Dallas @ Green Bay - The Cowboys. Are you serious? You get the Packers who are struggling and you go and lay a goose egg. I mean you barely even scored. Roy Williams, stop bitchin and catch the damn ball. You want to be the man, just do it. Inquisitive Mind 7 - 5 for the week.

Philadelphia @ San Diego - Congrats to LT for the new baby on the way and congrats on finding the endzone, twice. This Chargers team seems to be catching fire at the right time since the Broncos are slipping, again. Inquisitive Mind 8 - 5 for the week.

New England @ Indianapolis - -------!!!!! I still can't believe they lost this game. I'm sorry, I have to say you punt in that situation. If you're on the 50 and you have that 4th and 2, then I can understand going for it. Bad call, but as the coach, Belicheat has to say it was the best thing for his team to win. Sends a terrible message to the defense too. Inquisitive Mind 8 - 6 for the week.

Baltimore @ Cleveland - Not a whole lot of offense in this game. This pretty much says it all. Brady Quinn was 13 of 31 for 99 yards, and 2 INTs. Inquisitive Mind 9 - 6 for the week.

That brings us to a whopping 93 - 51 for the season. Not bad, but a little behind the pros.

Jauron Ousted

Well, the Bills have one less headache to worry about this year. Head coach Dick Jauron has been let go from a struggling Buffalo team. The Bills have started off the year with a 3-6 record after bringing in T.O., having their leading rusher Marshawn Lynch suspended for the first 4 games, and not having a franchise QB. The Bills had already fired Turk Schonert, their offensive coordinator, prior to the start of the season.

Perry Fewell should be taking over the interim head coaching responsibilities.

Does this even matter? How many games can they win with Edwards as their QB? I'd love to see T.O.'s press conference after this.

Jack-nifed

Ask and you shall receive. The Golden State Warriors have traded disgruntled swing man Stephen Jackson and Acie Law to the Charlotte Bobcats for Raja Bell and Vladomir Radmonovic. The Warriors have been shopping a deal for Jackson since he wanted out of Golden State (since this summer). I'm not sure that this is the destination that Jackson had in mind. For some reason I don't see how he and Coach Brown will mesh, but at the same time aren't Jackson and Gerald Wallace essentially the same player? Or is this Charlotte's failed attempt at a Kobe/Artest tandem? The Warriors will finally get someone who knows how to spell defense in Bell and we have no idea what Vlad will do.

Rating: Well, this is essentially a trade for parts. I'm not sure that either team is going to benefit greatly by this. If anyone does, it would be the Bobcats since they are the ones that got a 20 point per game scorer and they can't seem to score.

Iverson Waived

The Allen Iverson saga in Memphis has finished. The Grizzlies and Iverson have mutually decided to put him on waivers. AI should clear waivers in the next few days and will probably become a free agent. I had hoped that this wouldn't be the end of AI, but based on the trade that went down today with the only possible team that would want AI, the Charlotte Bobcats, I don't see a team ready to sign him since he wants to be a starter. If there was ever a time for Doc Rivers to try and talk to AI, now is the time.

Is this the end for AI? We knew it wouldn't last long in Memphis.

Who Needs College?

Well, last night Brandon Jennings torched the Golden State Warriors for 55 points and broke a rookie scoring record held by none other than Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (51 points). Jennings was drafted No. 10 by the Bucks during the last draft. Prior to last night and the draft, Jennings was better known as the kid who skipped out on college and went overseas to play for a year. Many at the time thought that Jennings gamble would backfire on him, but the young man made the decision and stuck with it. His stats didn't wow anyone who watched him play in Europe, but a lot of people are excited about his prospects in the NBA. Congrats Brandon on a great night last night and continued success.

Is this starting a trend? Jennings was able to go to Europe for a year and still get drafted in the top 10 of the NBA draft. He was also making close to $600-$700K a year. Is being a part of March Madness really worth that much to you?

NFL Week 10 Picks

Ok, the 49ers got us to 1 - 0 so far this week. Let's see what else we can do.

New Orleans @ St. Louis - Is there a mercy rule in the NFL? I expect Drew Brees to play at most 3 quarters and for the Saints to continue marching on. Winner - Saints.

Tampa Bay @ Miami - Well, no Joey Porter for the Dolphins defense, but that shouldn't be a problem for them. The Bucs are a bad team even though they pulled off an unexpected win against the Packers last week. Miami normally plays well at home. Winner - Dolphins.

Detroit @ Minnesota - Is there a mercy rule in the NFL? The Vikings come off their bye week where they practiced tackling because their defense has missed several of them. The offense should continue to click and I'm expecting a big game from AP. Winner - Vikings.

Jacksonville @ New York Jets - The Jets need a big win. Gotta get a big win and they get the Jaguars. If they stop the run, this ought to be a quick game. Winner - Jets.

Buffalo @ Tennessee - These are two bad teams playing each other. The Titans are rolling on the back of changing QBs and the Bills look to have a slightly dinged TO ready for action. This is a coin flip, right? Winner - Titans.

Cincinnati @ Pittsburgh - Wow, a game for first place. Who would have thought that the Bengals would have been atop the AFC Central. Pittsburgh is starting to gel. The running game is coming along and the defense has started showing teeth and closing as of late. Tough to pick on this one. Winner - Steelers.

Denver @ Washington - Great for the Broncos to get this game. The Redskins haven't impressed anyone and the Denver mystique is slowly being discounted. The Broncos need this one. Winner - Broncos.

Atlanta @ Carolina - I can't really pick this game. The Falcons have taken some tough losses lately and the Panthers are so up and down, you never know which team is going to show up. Coin flip again. Winner - Panthers.

Kansas City @ Oakland - Tow VERY bad teams. The Chiefs got rid of Larry Johnson and the Raiders still have Tom Cable and JaMarcus Russell. Gotta go with the better team of the two. Winner - Chiefs.

Seattle @ Arizona - Some would say always pick the home team but the Cardinals suck at home. Seattle seems to be coming out of their funk, but I thought they were doing that weeks ago. This is an NFC West battle and I gotta go with the,......Winner - Seahawks.

Dallas @ Green Bay - Going to be a good game. The Packers can't protect Rodgers and the Cowboys have a good defensive front. The Packers had closed door meetings this week where everyone had a chance to vent. The O-line even blamed Rodgers for some of the sacks that he's taken. Donald Driver was quoted as saying everyone is playing for their jobs this weekend. Sounds like a lot is on the line. Winner - Cowboys.

Philadelphia @ San Diego -McNabb had a terrible game last week and the Chargers are coming off of a great win against the Giants. Westbrook will be back which will help them (hopefully) run the ball better. Whichever defense plays better will win this game. Winner - Chargers.

New England @ Indianapolis - Glad this is the night game because this is much see TV. I expect this one to be similar to the games before it and I expect a shootout. The Patriots have started to show signs of clicking and I think they continue in this game. Winner - Patriots.

Baltimore @ Cleveland - The Browns must really dislike Brady Quinn. I mean they decide to go with him on Monday night against the Ravens. Thanks a bunch Coach Mangini. Winner - Ravens.

Things You Shouldn't Do to Friends

The nastiest dunk I've seen in a while. Thoughts?

NFL Week 10 Wrap Up - Thursday Night Game

Chicago @ San Francisco - Wow!!! Are you for real? 5 INTS? I know that some of them weren't Cutler's fault, but you just can't throw 5 picks in a game. The Bears just looked terrible. Their offensive and defensive lines can't do their jobs, so you end up with Forte getting 40+ yards rushing but then 100+ receiving yards. The 49ers looked equally inept and they were just able to pull this one out. If you were lucky you could have watched Wade and LeBron battle each other in Miami. Inquisitive Mind 1 - 0 for the week.

The Rhetorical Question

Is Allen Iverson a team player? Who would have thought that AI's 2000-2001 season would have been the pinnacle of his career? Yes, Iverson has to be one of the best under 6 foot players to ever play the game. He is pound for pound one of the toughest players to play the game, and he will go down in history as one of the best scorers in the game. The question becomes, is Iverson a team player?

Let's get this on the table quickly, I am an Iverson apologist. Loved him at Georgetown, loved him when he crossed up MJ (watch the video), loved him when he carried that Sixers team to the NBA Finals against Shaq and Kobe, but now that great career seems to be ending in Memphis of all places.

We all know that the epitome of a team was that Larry Brown coached Sixers team. That was the first time that a team had been built around Iverson that would highlight his abilities and provided that team with a chance to win every night. Think about it, who was on that team? Theo Ratliff until he got hurt and then the Sixers were able to get Dikembe Mutumbo. The rest of the team: George Lynch, Aaron McKie, Tyrone Hill, Eric Snow, Jumaine Jones, Kevin Ollie, and Todd MacCullough.

Since then, Iverson has been traded to Denver, Detroit, and finally signed by the Grizzlies (the only team to offer him a deal) this year. There have been knocks on AI about him holding the ball too much, gambling on defense, and just not willing to put in the time to practice.

Now we get to 2009 and we see Iverson not accepting a role coming off the bench. That 2000-2001 season is a distant memory and with the additional 8 years on AI's body, shouldn't he, for the team, come off the bench to help the team? Iverson has been quoted as saying he doesn't feel like he's a bench player, that he's a starter. At some point in our careers we have to know that we aren't the the player that we used to be, or the best player on the court, even MJ realized that.

Just a note to AI. We still love the AI from years ago, but you are in the waning years of your career. Come off the bench for the Grizzlies and you can get your 20+ points a night. But please don't be a distraction and cause yourself an early retirement. I think you still got game, you think you still got game. Prove it to us. Answer the question that many people already have of you, you know, the rhetorical one.

Can Iverson make it in Memphis? Have we seen the last of AI in the NBA? When do you know it's time to hang it all up? Can he be a team player?

Thursday Night Football - Week 10 Picks

Bears @ San Francisco - Who thinks that this will be a good game? I really think that Vernon Davis calling out the Bears will get them excited for about a series or two. Outside of that, the Bears defensive line is banged up and I don't think they can stop the 49ers. I'm not saying the 49ers are a juggernaut, but it's the Bears. Vernon Davis will probably have a big game because of that cover 2 that the Bears run. Winner - 49ers.

NFL Week 9 Wrap Up

I guess breakfast is a bad thing. Let's see the damage for the week.

Washington @ Atlanta - When the most exciting part of the game is when the opposing coach goes after his former player during a hit on the sidelines, you know you're watching the Redskins play. Coach Mike Smith was fined $15K, while DeAngelo Hall wasn't fined at all. Hey, Smith can say his team won the game and Hall can say that he didn't lose any money during or after the game. Small victories are still victories. Inquisitive Mind 1 - 0 for the week.

Arizona @ Chicago - Boy was I wrong about this one. I kind of went homer on this and got whupped, along with the Bears. This was sad. Tommie Harris thrown out of the game after the 4th play? Question: Why do you hit a dude in the face mask when he has a helmet on? The only thing that would have served Harris better was if he would have broken his hand. Stupid is as stupid does. Inquisitive Mind 1 - 1 for the week.

Baltimore @ Cincinnati - Surprised, is about all I can say. The Bengals must be for real, or they just know how to beat the Ravens. Benson got another 100 yards against that defense. Amazing. Inquisitive Mind 1 - 2 for the week.

Houston @ Indianapolis - A helluva game with the Texans thisclose to winning. The Colts march on setting up a showdown with the Patriots. Inquisitive Mind 2 - 2 for the week.

Miami @ New England - I was sweating, along with the Patriots, for a while during this game. The Dolphins showed up and almost pulled the shocker. I think Coach Sparano said it best in the post game, 'that team (the Patriots) know how to win games.' Inquisitive Mind 3 - 2 for the week.

Green Bay @ Tampa Bay - The Packers are going to want this one back at the end of the year, mark my words. They went down to Tampa and lost this game. Yes Tampa won, but this Packers team is better than this. Brett Favre wouldn't have let them lose that game. Inquisitive Mind 3 - 3 for the week.

Kansas City @ Jacksonville - The Chiefs made a run at this one too. Without Larry Johnson (now released) the Chiefs were able to ride Matt Cassel to make this one interesting. The Jaguars almost gave it away in the end. Inquisitive Mind - 4 - 3 for the week.

Carolina @ New Orleans - These Saints are for real. They have won in ever way they can. They got down early against the Panthers and then turned it around and won. Someone has to beat this team because if they get home field advantage, I don't know if anyone can beat them in that dome. Inquisitive Mind 5 - 3 for the week.

Detroit @ Seattle - The Seahawks had to win this game. I mean they were playing the Lions for heavens sake. Not much to say except they showed us they have a pulse. Inquisitive Mind 6 - 3 for the week.

Tennessee @ San Francisco - Hey, I guess the QB change is something that is positively effecting the Titans team. I'm all for getting rid of Jeff Fisher right now. He should have done this 5 weeks ago. The Titans scored 17 points in the 4th quarter to win this game. Yes, Vince Young was best when he handed the ball off, but that seems to work well for the Vikings and people are in love with Favre. Inquisitive Mind 7 - 3 for the week.

San Diego @ New York Giants - Wow! I think most of you know I'm not an Eli Manning fan, but I like the Giants on defense. Well, that defense is starting to suck right now. I can't blame Eli all the time. The defense let a decent Chargers offense drive the field for the game winning touchdown. Inquisitive Mind 7 - 4 for the week.

Dallas @ Philadelphia - The Eagles looked pedestrian in this game. I'm not sure why, they just couldn't get it done and neither could McNabb. Inquisitive Mind 7 - 5 for the week.

Pittsburgh @ Denver - This turned into a shootout and it showed that Kyle Orton isn't the QB you want leading your team if you're down 10 or more points. Has everyone figured out the Broncos already? Tom Jackson is somewhere crying in his milk. Inquisitive Mind 8 - 5 for the week.

I thought it would be worse, but it wasn't. I still want a perfect week, so I've got a lot of work to do. For the year, it puts us at 84 - 45. Still running behind the pros.

Byron Scott Out

The Hornets have fired Byron Scott and have hired Tim Floyd as an assistant coach. The Hornets GM will take over coaching duties as of today. Scott has had a pretty up and down stop with the Hornets. He was Coach of the Year a few years ago and his team took the San Antonio Spurs to 7 games before bowing out. Since then, the team hasn't responded. They traded Tyson Chandler for Emeka Okafor and they really don't have much else. Peja isn't what he used to be, David West is finally starting to wear down from being an undersized PF, Morris Peterson and James Pose both are on their last legs, and the bench is nothing to talk about.

Broken Laptop

It's been a few days, but my laptop died. Just got a new one and getting back into the swing of things. Lots going on. Take some time to catch up.

NFL Week 9 Picks

Family wanted breakfast this morning, so we went out for a quick bite. I know it's late, but here they are.

Washington @ Atlanta - The Falcons right the ship after a loss to the Saints last week. This is almost like a practice week for the Falcons. Winner - Falcons.

Arizona @ Chicago - This is a tough game to pick. Chicago is playing at home but they can't seem to get to any body's QB. The Bears can't protect their QB and can't seem to run the ball. It's not cold in Chicago and if the Cardinals are up to the task after that stinker against the Panthers last week, this ought to be a shootout. Winner - Bears.

Baltimore @ Cincinnati - The Bengals beat the Ravens at home earlier this week. I doubt they can repeat the task again. The Ravens looked to be on the top of their game after beating Denver last week. Gotta go with my guys. Winner - Ravens.

Houston @ Indianapolis - Another good game. The Texans are starting rookies in their defensive backfield. Peyton Manning is probably slobbering right now. The Texans can score and their defense up front isn't that bad. Go with the home team. Winner - Colts.

Miami @ New England -I'll make this quick. I'd love to see the Dolphins win this game, but I can't see them pull this one off at New England. Winner - Patriots.

Green Bay @ Tampa Bay - Gotta win this game. After losing Favre Bowl last week for the 2nd time, the Packers need a win. A practice game for the Packers. Winner - Packers.

Kansas City @ Jacksonville - Well, the Jaguars looked good for moments last week when MJD had the ball. This week they get a decent Chiefs defense and they are at home. Winner - Jaguars.

Carolina @ New Orleans - I could, and I mean could see the Saints losing this game for no other reason than isht happens. I don't think they will, but I hold out hope. Winner - Saints.

Detroit @ Seattle - Calvin Johnson will play. It will be rainy. Wet field. Home team. Winner - Seahawks.

Tennessee @ San Francisco - Boy, two mediocre teams. Vince Young looked great handing the ball off last week. Let's see if he remembers the game plan this week. Winner - Titans.

San Diego @ New York Giants - This is Manning Bowl all over again. The Giants have said this is a must win. The Chargers better be saying the same thing. The Giants have lost 3 in a row. Will it be 4? Winner - Giants.

Dallas @ Philadelphia - No Westbrook. Eagles at home. Can Donovan find a way against the Cowboys? Not so sure. Winner - Eagles.

Pittsburgh @ Denver - Can the Broncos bounce back? Can Big Ben show up for the Steelers? That Steelers defense is starting to turn it around. Winner - Steelers.

NFL Week 8 Wrap Up

Yes, I know it's late, but my paper for my class comes first.

Houston @ Buffalo - After TO's 30+ yard scamper to the end zone and the way the Bills defense was playing, I got very nervous. All I have to say is that was a helluva halftime speech. The Texans came out and dominated, like they hadn't even played the first half poorly. Inquisitive Mind 1 - 0 for the week.

Cleveland @ Chicago - This was about what I expected. The Bears dominated this game and still had a lot of opportunities that they blew. They still can't seem to run the ball that well and Cutler took some licks from a mediocre Cleveland defense. Note to Lovie: Get an offensive line. Inquisitive Mind 2 - 0 for the week.

Seattle @ Dallas - How bad is this Seahawks team? They really only put up 10 points in this game (the last TD coming way after the game was out of reach). The Cowboys showed that they can beat bad teams, what can they do with good teams? I guess we'll find out next week. Inquisitive Mind 3 - 0 for the week.

St. Louis @ Detroit - This was a horrible game. H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E. All I have to say is congrats to Steven Jackson for a great game. Lots of hard running and determination. Inquisitive Mind 3 - 1 for the week.

Denver @ Baltimore - It's about time that Ravens defense woke up. They looked like the team we expected them to be all year long. Denver looked average and Joe Flacco didn't wow us with stats but he is quietly turning in a great 2nd year. Inquisitive Mind 4 - 1 for the week.

San Francisco @ Indianapolis - Talk about a close game. The 49ers came to Indy and played a helluva game. The 49ers found a way to keep the Colts out of the end zone. I still don't understand how Manning had 347 yards passing and the Colts only score 18 points. If there's such a thing as a moral victory, the 49ers should be happy. Inquisitive Mind 5 - 1 for the week.

Miami @ New York Jets - Maybe we don't get smarter the second time around. The Jets came in with the sting from the last loss against Miami and their coach calling the Dolphins offense a 'gimmick' and they lay another egg. The Dolphins jumped on the Jets from the beginning and never looked back. I would have paid money to hear the Jets locker room after this game. Inquisitive Mind 5 - 2 for the week.

New York Giants @ Philadelphia - All I really have to say about this game is as follows: 20 of 39 for 222 yards, 1 TD, and 2 INTs. That's Eli Manning's line and he probably owes the Giants his paycheck for this performance. Inquisitive Mind 6 - 2 for the week.

Jacksonville @ Tennessee - Sometimes decisions aren't that hard to make and normally hindsight is the best 20/20, but why did the it take this long for the Titans to play Vince Young? I'm not saying that Young was the reason they won, that honor goes to Chris Johnson, but the team played well for him and his 15 of 18 for 125 yards and 1 TD wasn't bad for a guy who hasn't played in a long time. Inquisitive Mind 7 - 2 for the week.

Oakland @ San Diego - All I have to say is how do you allow the Raiders to score 16 points?!?!?The Raiders. You can probably tell that my fantasy team defense wears the powder blue and gold. Arrrgggh. Inquisitive Mind 8 - 2 for the week.

Carolina @ Arizona - Imagine someone walking off the street and into your house, they eat your food, sex your woman, and then take a dump on the way out in your bathroom. Then imagine that this person isn't attractive at all (maybe that would make it better). This is what happened to the Cardinals. They let a wounded Panthers team come into Arizona and just own them. If the Cardinals didn't play in the NFC West, they wouldn't make the playoffs this year. Inquisitive Mind 8 - 3 for the week.

Minnesota @ Green Bay - You could probably hear me cheering during this game. Favre returned home and bludgeoned his former team. It doesn't get any better than 17 of 28 (kept Brett right at his pitch count, around 25 attempts) for 244 yards and 4 TDs. The only weakness on this team seems to be the defense's ability to close the door. Inquisitive Mind 9 -3 for the week.

Atlanta @ New Orleans - Great game and it lived up to the hype. If you are not already on the Saints' bandwagon, you will need to wait in line for tickets. I'm sold. They are going to be a tough out for somebody. The Saints seem to have too much on offense and a defense that can make some stops. That's a dangerous combination. Inquisitive Mind 10 - 3 for the week.

That's what I'm talking about, a good 10 - 3 week. That brings the grand total to 76-40. A few more of these weeks and I'm going to be leading the pack.

NBA Roundup 10-31-09

Just a few tidbits about the NBA.

Stephon Marbury - Can you drug test a guy that isn't in the league anymore? Marbury was escorted from Madison Square Garden for sitting in the wrong seat. Instead of moving, he got all ignant and refused to move to his correct seat and security had him removed completely. At one point, Marbury pulled out a video camera to tape the incident. What was he thinking?

Cleveland Cavaliers - I'm not feeling very good about the Cavs with Shaq. The ball still seems to end up in LeBron's hands and we saw how that ended last year. The over under on Mike Brown's job is 2 months. They have GOT to get someone who can revamp that offense ASAP. Or you can refer to LeBron as a former Cav.

Gilbert Arenas - People, yes you Average Bro, you might need to get a little excited. Arenas looks like he's back and maybe a little bit better than we thought. He has played well in the Wizards games so far and they are 2-1 and their schedule looks favorable. It may be time to get back on their bandwagon.

Pau Gasol - That hamstring doesn't seem to be healing as fast as many thought and at least Gasol is one who is starting to get nervous. Let me just say this, the Lakers don't need Gasol right now. Pau, go sit down somewhere for a while and heal up so we can see this team in the Finals.

J.J. Redick - Talk about things you should keep to yourself. Redick and some friends are making some rap songs. (Let that sink in for a second). No they're not going to release an album, but the fact that this is even news will make it must hear music. All of us should be shaking in our boots.

Carmelo Anthony - Wow!!! I know it's very early, but hey this guy is ballin. Now the question is can he get his team a high seed in the Western Conference playoffs so they can avoid the Lakers?

NFL Week 8 Picks

What I learned last week (in Fantasy Football) is never give up, never ever give up. I was only up about 7 points going into Monday night and the team I was facing had the Giants defense playing on Monday night. I just knew I lost, but hung on to win and take my record to 3-4 for the year. But, this isn't about Fantasy Football, so let me get back to it.

I want a perfect week.

Houston @ Buffalo - This is probably going to be a wet game and I have no confidence in the Bills. They have a good running game, but so do the Texans. Let's go with the visitors. Winner - Texans.

Cleveland @ Chicago - (Joe it was great talking with you this week and I agree with you) The Bears are in trouble because they can't seem to do anything right on the offensive line. Olin Kreutz is getting killed and that hurts the running game. It's going to be wet and the Bears defense hasn't had 'one' of those games yet. Winner - Bears.

Seattle @ Dallas - I don't think the Cowboys are that good. I don't trust Romo and they get a Seahawks team that's beat up on the defensive side of the ball. Part of me says go with the Cowboys because they have shown that their defense is starting to get it right. I can see the Seahawks keeping up in what I expect to be a shootout, but I digress. Winner - Cowboys.

St. Louis @ Detroit - This is the game the Rams need, a chance to really win. Stafford and (Calvin) Johnson are back. That doesn't bode well for the Rams. Winner - Lions.

Denver @ Baltimore - At Baltimore, that's the rub. The Ravens defense has, let's face it, sucked over the past two weeks. Is this the week they turn it around and make Kyle Orton look like the QB that many of us thought he was? I like the Ravens at home, they play very well there. The defense has to play or they won't win a shootout. Winner - Ravens.

San Francisco @ Indianapolis - Alex Smith will make this game interesting. Peyton Manning will make it a walk in the park for the Colts. Winner - Colts.

Miami @ New York Jets - Miami won Round 1. Can the Jets stop a gimmick offense? Will they make good on their coaches claims? Tough game to pick. I don't think the Dolphins are that good, but they play well enough to give themselves a chance to win most weeks. Go with the home team. Winner - Jets.

New York Giants @ Philadelphia - Well, maybe the Eagles can do better than the Phillies. The Giants are coming off of two bad outings and this is a battle in the NFC East that normally is exciting. No Westbrook for the Eagles (or if he does, someone should be held accountable for putting him on the field. If I'm Andy Reid and I have any doubts, sit him at least a week). Tough game for the Eagles at home, but Donovan will find a way. Winner - Eagles.

Jacksonville @ Tennessee - What took them so long to start VY? I mean you are 0-6 and you're debating with the owner about starting VY? Let's just say that Jeff Fisher just wants to punish this kid for walking away from the team last year. Fisher, start the kid and pray for your job. Winner - Titans.

Oakland @ San Diego - Ok Chargers, you see your destiny right in front of you. This is the closest thing to a guaranteed win. You get the Raiders at your home. I'm looking for complete domination. Winner - Chargers.

Carolina @ Arizona - For some reason I think that Jake Delhomme doesn't make the plane back home after this game. I'm thinking that the Panthers leave him after he throws about 2 INTs. The Cardinals need this one after that big win against the Giants last week to keep the momentum rolling. Winner - Cardinals.

Minnesota @ Green Bay - THE GAME OF THE WEEK. The Vikings won Round 1. The Vikings can't win this year with Favre throwing 51 times. Just not going to work. The Vikings have to find a way to get AP loose. I want Favre in the 20-25 attempts range. Winner - Vikings.

Atlanta @ New Orleans - This will be an entertaining game if you like points. The Saints are for real and I have no indication that they are going to stop anytime soon. What's the over/under on the number of points in this game? I would say something in the 65+ range. Winner - Saints.

Hello NBA!!!!

The season kicks off tonight!!!! Finally some NBA basketball to go with the NFL. Lots of moves have been made over the summer and now it's time to see if any of them were good, bad, or indifferent. Tonights' schedule:

Boston @ Cleveland - The Return of KG. The Appearance of Shaq in Cleveland. This is going to be a great game. LeBron gets his first game with a motivated Shaq, but minus a wayward Delonte West. I like Anthony Parker as a pickup for this team, watch him. Rasheed and (Marquis) Daniels provide a big lift over the bench the Celtics had last year too. But the man to watch is Shelden Williams. He hasn't done much but marry Candace Parker and maintain an NBA job, but I think that he can give this team quality minutes off the bench. I'm a Duke apologist people, what can I say. Winner - Cavaliers.

Washington @ Dallas - A rested Nowitzki and a rejuvenated Gilbert Arenas. The Mavericks are part of the Western playoff picture and the Wizards have been a bad punchline for a long time. The Wizards have a lot of talent, but they have to make it work. Gilbert is back. Winner - Wizards.

Houston @ Portland - No Yao, no T-Mac, no chance. Trevor Ariza, I hope that paycheck keeps you warm at night because that feeling of winning that you had last year is gone. The Blazers should run away with this game. Word on the street is that Greg Oden is healthy (amazing) and motivated, Winner - Trailblazers.

LA Clippers @ LA Lakers - The Clippers seem to have their normal luck with the injury of Blake Griffin (out for 6 weeks with a fractured knee cap). Baron, have fun with this team. The Lakers are stacked!!! I mean stacked. Artest, Kobe, Gasol, Bynum, Fisher, Odom, and then their benchmob. Not the team I want to play. Winner - Lakers.

NFL Week 7 Wrap Up

Wow, what a terrible week.

Green Bay @ Cleveland - Well, the Packers started off the week with a blowout as expected. Cleveland can't wiat for tonight to see the NBA season kick off. Hey, at least Braylon Edwards got charged for hitting LeBron's friend. You know you've made it when the media refers to you, not by your given name, but by the moniker, 'LeBron's friend'. Inquisitive Mind 1 - 0 for the week.

San Diego @ Kansas City - Finally a team that the Chargers can dominate and so they did. That's two blowouts in two games. Larry Johnson, pack your bags. Inquisitive Mind 2 - 0 for the week.

Indianpolis @ St. Louis - Momma said there'd be days like this. Yet another blowout and the Rams really weren't even that close. Inquisitive Mind 3 - 0 for the week.

Minnesota @ Pittsburgh - Well the Vikings finally got beat. This was a good game. I thought the Vikings were going to win this one, but the Steelers defens finally closed a game. Inquisitive Mind 3 - 1 for the week.

New England @ Tampa Bay - ANOTHER blowout. Nothing more to say. Inquisitive Mind 4 - 1 for the week.

San Francisco @ Houston - We held on with this one. Alex Smith was substituted for the terrible Shaun Hill and the 49ers became dangerous. If he can put a few more drives like that together, this team gets instantly better. Remember, this is the guy that was working out with Crabtree earlier this year. Fantasy owners should be happy. Bad not for the Texans, Andre Johnson has a bruised lung. You won't see him for a few weeks. Inquisitive Mind 5 - 1 for the week.

Buffalo @ Carolina - Keith, I'm with you, why did the Panthers pay Jake Delhomme? I mean, really, why is he getting a check? I guess maybe he's a little confused with that whole interception/touchdown thing. Jake, throw to the people with your jersey on. Inquisitive Mind 5 - 2 for the week.

New York Jets @ Oakland - This should have been the score with the Raiders playing the Eagles last week. Can someone sit JaMarcus Russell? Really!?!?! Inquisitive Mind 6 - 2 for the week.

Atlanta @ Dallas - The Falcons let me down. They let the Cowboys look good. No, I am not a Cowboys apologist, but the Falcons made them look good. Why did Romo get paid that money? Inquisitive Mind 6 - 3 for the week.

Chicago @ Cincinnati - Ok, I'm happy that Cedric Benson got his revenge and he destroyed the Bears defense. But I have some issues: 1) He can't blame anyone in Chicago for him sucking the way he did, unless he starts with himself. I never saw him run that hard in Chicago. 2) The Bears are toothless. When the game was already out of hand and it was the 4th quarter AND the Bengals put in their backup QB, Benson wouldn't pull himself out of the game. The Bears should have hurt him. Period. The game was already over, and the only reason he was out there was to rub it in a little more. They should have gang tackled him and tried to break him in half. Inquisitive Mind 7 - 3 for the week.

New Orleans @ Miami - The Dolphins listened to me, but too many turnovers killed them. The Saints came back from near death and won this game. The Saints are for real. Inquisitive Mind 8 - 3 for the week.

Arizona @ New York Giants - How do you lose this game if you are the Giants? Especially to a team that is very one dimensional and a very brittle at the QB position. Don't understand the Giants. I can't even blame Eli for this one, he played ok. He was putting the ball in his receivers hands but they weren't making any plays. I just stood up for Eli Manning, I must be drinking. Inquisitive Mind 8 - 4 for the week.

Philadelphia @ Washington - We knew the Redskins didn't have a chance. For those that are die hard Redskins fans, you are going to have a terrible rest of the year. With some positive, Campbell looked ok last night. I mean he delivered WHEN he was given time. The fact that he basically had on an Eagles jersey on most downs, didn't help him look good. The bad is that they lost their Pro Bowl TE Cooley for the year with a broken ankle. Inquisitive Mind 9 - 4 for the week.

Not too bad, but it can always be better. How am I doing? Let's see. 66-37.

NFL Week 7 Picks

I need a perfect weekend.

Green Bay @ Cleveland - The Packers should easily win this game, but with them juggling their offensive line due to injuries (Clifton), the Browns may cause some problems like they did last week with the Steelers. Winner - Packers.

San Diego @ Kansas City - Finally a game the Chargers SHOULD win. The Chiefs were able to get a win last week against the Redskins and they actually look decent. They seem to be solid on both sides of the ball. The Chargers' inconsistency scares the isht out of me, but I gotta think they can beat a bad team. Winner - Chargers.

Indianapolis @ St. Louis - The Colts travel to St. Louis to run the score up. Think Patriots from last week. Winner - Colts.

Minnesota @ Pittsburgh - Hmmm, looks like a great game on paper. Should end up being a great game. The Steelers seem to be more pass happy than usual and that may help them against a dinged up Vikings secondary. The issue will be if the Steelers can keep the Williamses and Allen off of Roethlisberger. The Steelers defense hasn't been able to close the door on anyone this season. Winner - Vikings.

New England @ Tampa Bay - This doesn't look good. It seems as though the Patriots found a way to start a fire with two sticks and they are just pouring gas onto the flames. Laurence Maroney found out that he can still run the ball (great news for my fantasy team) and this Patriots team seems to have gotten their swagger back after destroying the Titans last week. Winner - Patriots.

San Francisco @ Houston - Welcome to the league Michael Crabtree. The 49ers need a win this week to get some of their swagger back. Crabtree joins a receiving corp that really needs a big play receiver. I still have no faith in Shaun Hill, so I can't think that this 49er team will go into Houston and beat the Texans. Stranger things have happened. Winner - Texans.

Buffalo @ Carolina - This is finally the week that the Bills realize why they got TO!!! I think I penned that one a few weeks ago and we're still waiting for that moment. The Bills just suck. They have a decent weather game in Carolina but I don't think that they will be able to stop the Panthers' running game. Is Julius Peppers still playing football for the Panthers? Winner - Panthers.

New York Jets @ Oakland - Well, I would normally put 2 and 2 together and get 4 but obviously this didn't work last week. The Jets are coming off of two bad losses and should be more than pissed when they play the Raiders. The Raiders just upset the Eagles last weekend and that prompted Richard Seymour to say that the Raiders will be in the playoffs. I thought the NFL drug tested their players? 2+2=4. Winner - Jets.

Atlanta @ Dallas - This ought to be an interesting game. When your owner says that you need a defining game, that's probably not good. The Falcons come off a big game against the Bears where their defense stepped up. The Falcons get to see that new Dallas Stadium and we'll see if they can get this win. I'm still not sold on Romo. Winner - Falcons.

Chicago @ Cincinnati - This should be an easy win for the Bears, but nothing is easy for them. They'll get a heavy dose of Cedric Benson, but probably more Carson Palmer. The Bears have got to step up and play some offense or at least give Forte a chance to run the ball. A 2.2 yards per carry isn't going to win too many games. Winner - Bengals.

New Orleans @ Miami - Well now the Dolphins get a chance to stop this high powered offense. Their best chance will be to do what they did with the Colts (yeah they still lost but it gave them the best chance to win) and try and keep Drew Brees on the sidelines sipping Gatorade. The wildcat ought to be on stage all day today, but I don't think the Dolphins have enough offense to win. Winner - Saints.

Arizona @ New York Giants - I have to hope that the Giants are prepared for this game. We all know about the Cardinals. Kurt Warner is going to take the ball and in about 6 seconds he'll be 5-7 yards deep, so if you get to that spot, you'll find him and he'll be out of the game. Not sold on the Eli here, so the Giants have got to run the ball. Winner - Giants.

Philadelphia @ Washington - The Eagles killed me last week in fantasy football, so they have to make it up to me. They get a wounded Redskins team with Sherman Lewis calling the plays. Lewis was calling bingo games for the last 5 years until he was asked to come back a few weeks ago to become the offensive coordinator. Tell me if you think that sounds good. I mean, any of it. Winner - Eagles.

NFL Week 6 Wrap Up

Can I tell you how much I am hating the Eagles right now? We'll get to this shortly, but let's recap the week.

Houston @ Cincinnati - Well, there goes my Bengals pick. The Texans came in and dominated this game on both sides of the ball. The defense held the most recently lethal Cedric Benson to a pedestrian 44 yards. Carson Palmer did what he could, but Matt Schaub stole the show with 392 yards and 4 TDs (1 int). On a separate note, Cedric Benson says that the Bears bad mouthed him and that was the reason it took him so long to catch on with another team. Cedric, you played like a punk when you were in Chicago. Nuff said. Inquisitive Mind 0 - 1 for the week.

Detroit @ Green Bay - The Packers got back into the mix of things and that's what they needed. Then they went out and signed Ahman Green again, can I ask why?!?!?! Inquisitive Mind 1 - 1 for the week.

Baltimore @ Minnesota - I thought for a second there that the Ravens would pull this off at the end. Actually when Ray Rice ran that TD late in the game, I thought it was over and a major upset. Then the old man, Favre, moved his team down the field and took the lead. The missed field goal at the end of the game just provided more drama. All in all a good game and a sad end for the Ravens. They have lost 3 games in a row, and have allowed two backs to run for consecutive 100 yard games. What's going on in Baltimore? Inquisitive Mind 2 - 1 for the week.

New York Giants @ New Orleans - I guess $100M doesn't get you much these days. People said this game would go to the better QB and they were right. Eli looked average (that's what I've been saying) and Drew Brees looked like Tom Brady. The funniest part was watching Eli yell at Ahmad Bradshaw for missing a blitz pickup. Ahmad should have smacked him in his mouth for all of the receivers he missed during the game. Inquisitive Mind 3 - 1 for the week.

Cleveland @ Pittsburgh - The Steelers can't close. That's it, that's all. They should have blown that Browns team out by close to 30. Instead they made it close the entire game. Note to Brady Quinn, if you can't start in front of a guy who completed 2 passes the game before,...you might need to pack your bags. Inquisitive Mind 4 - 1 for the week.

Carolina @ Tampa Bay - That NFC South used to be a good division, now it sucks. This game was another close one and the Panthers eeked this one out. Is Julius Peppers still playing football? Inquisitive Mind 5 - 1 for the week.

Kansas City @ Washington - Somebody had to win and the Chiefs are bad, but they aren't as bad as the Redskins. I actually feel sorry for Jim Zorn because he is being humiliated by the organization by having a bingo caller come out of retirement to be his offensive coordinator. He maybe should have walked out. Inquisitive Mind 6 - 1 for the week.

St. Louis @ Jacksonville - Why is it these Jaguars can't have two good games in a row? I mean you get the Rams at home and you go to overtime to beat them? Inquisitive Mind 7 - 1 for the week.

Arizona @ Seattle - Why is it these Seahawks can't have two good games in a row? (deja vu) The Seahawks got pummelled by the Cardinals. This wasn't even close. They just didn't show up. Inquisitive Mind 7 - 2 for the week.

Philadelphia @ Oakland - You're kidding me right? That score was reversed right? The Eagles didn't just go to Oakland and lose to a JaMarcus Russell led team? Donovan McNabb didn't get outplayed by the aforementioned QB too did he? I mean what the fuqq? This was supposed to be a blowout by the Eagles with fantasy football points just overflowing by Eagles players. I guess this is why they play the games. Inquisitive Mind 7 - 3 for the week.

Tennessee @ New England - Wow. 59 points. All types of records and all in the snow. The Titans are done. Jeff Fisher it has been nice seeing you coach over the years, but good luck with the next gig. Inquisitive Mind 8 - 3 for the week.

Buffalo @ New York Jets - Senior Sanchez had his worst game of his life (I think). He threw for 5 INTs against the Bills. I mean he only completed 10 passes to his teammates and then 5 to the other team. That's not a good ratio. The Jets had an opportunity to rebound but they left this one out on the field. Inquisitive Mind 8 - 4 for the week.

Chicago @ Atlanta - You know what, you can't win a game if you get in the red zone 4 times and can't finish. The Bears don't look good right now. They need a #1 receiver and if anyone says they have that in Devin Hester, you need to wake up. Why isn't Hester just returning kicks to help the Bears win the field position game? Why not spend some money or make a trade to acquire a receiver? Congrats to Cutler for his extension, basically 2 years/$20 million. Inquisitive Mind 9 - 4 for the week.

Denver @ San Diego - Break them up now. The Chargers are done. Last year they came back and made the playoffs, but this team is done. I just can't explain not getting any pressure on Kyle Orton the entire game and letting the Broncos just run all over them. Eddie Royal, you are a bad, bad, bad man. Inquisitive Mind 9 - 5 for the week.

Well, it seems we're stuck on this 9-5 thing. I gotta make some headway here. Any advice for me? Maybe that's what I need to be doing from here on out. Asking for help. For the season I am 57-33.
