NFL 2010 Week 17 Wrap Up

We got close.

Carolina @ Atlanta - The Falcons won and won big.  Best thing is no one got hurt.  Congrats to the Falcons for getting the Top Seed in the NFC.  I'm expecting lots out of you in these playoffs.  Inquisitive Mind 1 - 0 for the week.

Pittsburgh @ Cleveland - The Steelers welcomed back Troy Polamalu and then they blew out the Browns.  Eric Mangini, at least now you know you'll be looking for a new gig.  Good luck.  Pittsburgh looks like the only team that can give New England fits.  Maybe they'll be playing each other soon.  Inquisitive Mind 1 - 1 for the week.

Minnesota @ Detroit - Finally,...The Rock has......I'm sorry, finally Favre has retired for good this time.  Anyone who would even think that he could play next year should be shot on the spot or at least be fired on the spot for even suggesting it.  Thanks for the 20 years, now move on.  Diana has something special waiting for you when you get home.  Inquisitive Mind 2 - 1 for the week.

Oakland @ Kansas City - Wow, this is the way that I envision this Raiders team playing for the majority of the year.  They beat the Chiefs and beat them badly on both sides of the ball.  Campbell looked good and the defense (which I thought would be good at the beginning of the season) played very well.  The Chiefs were just looking towards the playoffs and they got the #4 seed in the AFC.  Inquisitive Mind 2 - 2 for the week.

Miami @ New England - The Patriots are the truth.  All roads to the Superbowl (AFC wise) go through Foxboro, period.  They beat the Dolphins so bad that they may have cost Sparano his job and he was supposedly safe going into the game.  Inquisitive Mind 3 - 2 for the week.

Tampa Bay @ New Orleans - The Bucs got the win but didn't make the playoffs.  They still needed this one to build for next year.  This team is solid all the way around, although a little long in the tooth on defense.  Inquisitive Mind 4 - 2 for the week.

Buffalo @ New York Jets - J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets are going to play Peyton Manning in the first round of the playoffs.  Not sure if this is what they wanted, but based on their play this year, they should be happy that they got in.  They are the sleeper team if you ask me, meaning when they are on, they can play with the Patriots or Ravens, or Colts.  When they aren't on,.....they really know how to make football look bad.  Inquisitive Mind 5 - 2 for the week.

Cincinatti @ Baltimore - That sound you heard was the dynamite tied to the Bengals franchise.  Goodbye, Carson Palmer, OchoCinco, Marvin Lewis, and TO.  They have, with the exception of TO, been the face of that franchise for the last 6-8 years.  Need to start over from scratch.  Inquisitive Mind 6 - 2 for the week.

Jacksonville @ Houston - This was never really in doubt with the Jaguars playing 2nd and 3rd stringers due to injury.  They were looking good just a few weeks ago and I even boasted about them making the playoffs.  My bad.  Inquisitive Mind 7 - 2 for the week.

New York Giants @ Washington - Grossman had a great game and they still lost.  The Shanahan Plan.  Inquisitive Mind 8 - 2 for the week.

Dallas @ Philadelphia - Great win for the Cowboys as they head into the off season with fewer questions since it looks like the now have a new head football coach in Jason Garrett.  Garrett, good luck, because with Jerry over your shoulder, you will need it.  Who thought Kolb would be the answer for the Eagles?  Inquisitive Mind 8 - 3 for the week.

Arizona @ San Francisco - Great game for the 49ers, too bad it was about 15 games too late.  Goodbye Troy Smith and Alex Smith.  Maybe the next QB for the 49ers won't have Smith as a last name, but their new coach may be a Harbaugh.  Inquisitive Mind 9 - 3 for the week.

Chicago @ Green Bay - I'm still not sold on the Bears.  They had nothing to win by winning this game and they lost.  That's not a slam against them either, as they need to make sure that they didn't get anyone hurt.  The 'real' season starts now and they get a bye to rest and figure out blocking schemes.  Inquisitive Mind 10 - 3 for the week.

Tennessee @ Indianapolis - Manning barely got it done, but it got done and now he gets the Jets.  Inquisitive Mind 11 - 3 for the week.

San Diego @ Denver - Good game, but nothing came out of this except maybe a long term deal for Vincent Jackson.  Can we get rid of Norv?  Please?  too much talent on this team to not do anything year in and year out.  Inquisitive Mind 12 - 3 for the week.

St. Louis @ Seattle - The rookie looked like a rookie last night and they Rams came up short.  I'm actually not too mad with the Seahawks and them backing into the playoffs, because they played decently last night on national TV, when it mattered.  With that said, they should get taken to the shed against the Saints.  Good Luck.  Inquisitive Mind 12 - 4 for the week.

Ok, had a good week this week and ended the season at 153 - 101 - 1.  Still better than Allen, Schefter, and Wickersham.  Golic and Hoge were the top dawgs, so that's who I'm chasing next year.  It's on to the playoffs, so let's see if the picks get any better.  It's been fun.  Thanks for joining the ride.
