Sloan Leaving?!?!?

From our friends at espn.com.

Jerry Sloan will resign as coach of the Utah Jazz on Thursday, according to media reports in Salt Lake City.
Sloan, who signed a one-year contract extension on Monday, said the team is planning a news conference for 5 p.m. ET on Thursday to discuss his future with the team. He did not offer further details, the Salt Lake Tribune reported.
Television station KSL first reported on its website that Sloan and assistant coach Phil Johnson planned to announce their resignations.

The rest of the story can be found here:  http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=6109031

Interesting.  He just signed an extension for an additional year on Monday and now he's out.  I want to hear the real story on this one.  We'll see what the fallout is from this.

UPDATE:  Looks like Ty Corbin will be appointed Head Coach.

The Bulls are coach Killahz. First we beat up on the Pacers and the next day their coach gets the boot. Now, it's the most tenured coach in the game, Jerry Sloan after a Bulls victory in Utah.

@ Delsin - It just doesn't make sense. He just signed an extension and now he's stepping down? And his assistant coach is also stepping down? What's the deal? Seems like a power play and someone didn't win or something crazy happened.

Reports are tha Sloan and D-Will got into a huge argument at halftime and they've been bickering all season. Ownership has D-Will's back and Sloan might be tired of it.

Hate to see it go down like that, Williams is one of my favorites since his Illini days.

I can't believe that D'Will would cause the Sloan to leave. He's good but there have been better PG's in Utah. I guess since Sloan had two hall of Fame players who "got it"....this is probably beneath him.

Looks like Sloan got into it with D Will and then the owner afterwards. The bigger issue is that he AND his assistant coach are leaving. That normally doesn't happen. I figure that if D Will is blamed for Sloan leaving he'll be out of there soon too. The Utah fans may turn on him.
