Fantasy Football Draft Results

Ok, the results are in and at first I think that I am happy. I think I did pretty well, but as we all see, one play can change a season (see Tom Brady last year). So without further ado, the 2009-2010 Cold Ones:

Donovan McNabb (PHI) - QB
Adrian Peterson (MIN) - RB
LenDale White (TEN) - RB
Anquan Boldin (AZ) - WR
TJ Houshmandzadeh (SEA) - WR
Greg Jennings (GB) - WR
Anthony Fasano (MIA) - TE
Kris Brown (HOU) - K
Miami - DEF

And then the bench:

Ben Roethlisberger (PIT) - QB
Ted Ginn Jr. (MIA) - WR
Michael Jenkins (ATL) - WR
Darrius Heyward-Bey (OAK) - WR
Tashard Choice (DAL) - RB
Donald Lee (GB) - TE
Laurence Maroney (NE) - RB

Well, what do you think? We have a 12 team league and as you know the pickings get slim towards the end of the draft. We'll see how this team holds up during the year. Looking forward to regaining the winner's plaque.

Tonight's the Night

Ok, it's time for our Fantasy Football draft tonight. I might blog a little during the draft to let you know which one of my friends is the craziest. Last year we had someone take the Arizona Cardinals defense in the 4th or 5th round.

This year, I get lucky because I get the #1 pick and Adrian Peterson, from the Vikings, here I come. I gotta win this year because I have to reclaim that trophy. It's been a few years since I've held the Fantasy Football trophy and I miss it. We'll see how this season goes.

Any advice for me? After A.P. it becomes a trap shoot. I may need all the help I can get.

Fantasy Football 2009

Well, the season will be starting soon and lucky for me, I finally got the #1 pick in our draft. We don't have a keeper league, so it's open to pick anyone and I don't have to worry about anyone being off the board. Of course I've already started doing my homework and really the first pick is kind of easy, Adrian Peterson will be on the Cold Ones this year.

But after that first pick, what do you do? I'm looking for advice. Do you go RB, QB or do you go WR, WR? I haven't won our league in a few years and need to get back on top.

So, for all of you Fantasy Football guys and gals out there, help me out with some strategy!!!!

Would you pick AD (All Day - Adrian Peterson) with the #1 pick or would you go with someone else. Give me some ideas. And trust me, I have the right to call you crazy and not follow your advice.

Fantasy Football Week 8

I know it's been a while, but things have been busy. Here's the quick update. 1) I'm 2-5 and presently 8th in the league out of 12. 2) Big Game Hunter is a perfect 7-0 and talking trash as we speak. 3) The playoffs are coming soon and yes, I'm talking playoffs. Here are the matchups for this week.

Cold Ones (2-5) vs. Potomac PimpSlappers (2-5)

Trent Edwards - QB (Buf) ----- Brett Favre - QB (NYJ)
Terrell Owens - WR (Dal) ----- Ike Hilliard - WR (NYG)
Santana Moss - WR (Was) ----- Wes Welker - WR (NE)
Lee Evans - WR (Buf) ----- Marques Colston - WR (NO)
Thomas Jones - RB (NYJ) ----- Maurice Jones-Drew - RB (Jac)
Marshawn Lynch - RB (Buf) ----- Tim Hightower - RB (Ari)
L. J. Smith - TE (Phi) ----- Jason Witten - TE (Dal)
Nate Kaeding - K (SD) ----- Matt Bryant - K (TB)
Tampa Bay (DEF) ----- Philadelphia (DEF)

So far I'm looking good but I do have cause for concern. TO hasn't done anything in weeks and Brad Johnson being his QB is going to suck. I have 3 Bills players playing and that always concerns me to have all of your eggs in one basket (one game). Philadelphia is playing Atlanta at home while Tampa Bay is playing the Cowboys in Big D. The Cowboys could win that game, although I'm not expecting that to happen. I have JT O'Sullivan (vs. Seattle), Dominic Rhodes, Dustin Keller, Roy Williams, and Devery Henderson on the bench. Nevertheless here's the rest of the schedule.

Charlotte PrimeTime! (3-4) vs. Big Game Hunter (7-0)
The Quite Franklies (3-4) vs. Techno Raiders (2-5)
Air Raiders (3-4) vs. RDU Saints (6-1)
They Might Be Giants (2-5) vs. Tha Bruthaz (2-5)
RobbBobbyBilly (5-2) vs. Silver & Black Rules (5-2)

This league has really turned into the have and the have nots with 4 teams at 5-2 or better. We have a few more weeks before the playoffs begin, so I am in a win NOW mode. Check back on Monday to see how I did.

If you have any advice, please drop me a comment or something. I am taking all advice (may not use it), but better to have and not use it than to never have it at all.

Fantasy Football Week 4

Wow, things got too busy and I wasn't able to put out my normal Fantasy Football Week 4 preview. It actually might have been a good thing. I have done it for 3 weeks and each week, I got an L. Well, I may be jinxing things here, but I decided to go ahead and put out this weeks matchup, albeit a little late. So without further ado,.......

Cold Ones (0-3) vs Techno Raiders (2-1)

J.T. O'Sullivan (QB - SF) ----- Donovan McNabb (QB - Phi)
Terrell Owens (WR - Dal) -----Chad Johnson (WR - Cin)
Santana Moss (WR - Was) ----- Hines Ward (WR - Pit)
Lee Evans (WR - Buf) ----- Hank Baskett (WR -Phi)
Marshawn Lynch (RB - Buf) ------ Clinton Portis (RB - Was)
Thomas Jones (RB - NYJ) ------ Ryan Grant (RB - GB)
Dustin Keller (TE - Phi) ----- Dante Rosario (TE - Car)
Jeff Reed (K - Pit) ----- Robbie Gould (K - Chi)
Tampa Bay (DEF) ----- Jacksonville (DEF)

As always, I felt like this was a good week for me and I still feel that way (great when you're leading 97.18 to 42.68 going into tonight's game). I still have Jeff Reed playing tonight while Techno Raiders has Hines Ward. I guess we'll see how this one turns out, but I'm looking for my first win of the season. The rest of the league was matched up as follows:

They May Be Giants (0-3) vs RDU Saints (3-0)
The Quite Franklies (2-1) vs Air Raiders (1-2)
Big Game Hunter (3-0) vs Silver & Black Rules (2-1)
Potomac PimpSlappers (1-2) vs Charlotte PrimeTime! (1-2)
Tha Bruthaz (1-2) vs RobbBobbyBilly (2-1)

The games will be finished after tonight so we'll see who made it out of Week 4 with some bragging rights.

Fantasy Football Week 3

Back at it again. It's Week 3 and we are 0-2. Gotta win this week. I feel the pressure to get the monkey off my back. The schedule looks like this :

RDU Saints (2-0) vs. Cold Ones (0-2)
Charlotte Prime Time! (0-2) vs. The Quite Franklies (2-0)
They Might Be Giants (0-2) vs. Potomac PimpSlappers (0-2)
Silver & Black Rules (2-0) vs. Air Raiders (0-2)
RobbBobbyBilly (2-0) vs. Big Game Hunter (2-0)
Techno Raiders (1-1) vs. Tha Bruthaz (1-1)

I'm actually the underdog this week based on projected points. I got a few questions left to answer about whom to play, but for right now, this is what my lineup looks like.

RDU Saints vs. Cold Ones

Aaron Rodgers (QB - GB) ----- J.T. O'Sullivan (QB - SF)
Randy Moss (WR - NE) -----Terrell Owens (WR - Dal)
Chris Chambers (WR - SD) ----- Roy Williams (WR - Det)
Patrick Crayton (WR - Dal) ----- Lee Evans (WR - Buf)
Frank Gore (RB - SF) ----- Marshawn Lynch (RB - Buf)
Reggie Bush (RB - NO) ----- Thomas Jones (RB - NYJ)
Kellen Winslow (TE - Cle) ----- LJ Smith (TE - Phi)
Rob Bironas (K - Ten) ----- Jeff Reed (K - Pit)
Tennessee (DEF) ----- Indianapolis (DEF)

I went with JT O'Sullivan because I just can't, in good conscious, play Carson Palmer this week against the Giants. My other option is playing Trent Edwards, but I can't do that because I'd have 3 players in the Buffalo game. That scares me for so many reasons. I think that Buffalo wins this week, but I just don't see all three of these guys going off. Santana Moss also is a possibility with the way that Roy Williams is not catching TDs, while Calvin Johnson seems to be 'the man' for that team now. I picked the Colts D instead of the Bucs because the Bears could get lucky and run the ball at home against the Bucs. But both matchups on D could easily be changed. So, I got a few more days before I have to get my final roster in place, so any help that you can provide would be more than appreciated.

Fantasy Football Week 2 Wrap Up

Why do I play this game? I mean, I had my best team on the field and they didn't perform. We are now 0-2 in our league and last night just echoed what management has been saying, if we don't win, there are going to be some big moves made.

Tha Bruthaz vs. Cold Ones

Peyton Maning (QB - Ind) ----- Carson Palmer (QB - Cin)
Torry Holt (WR - STL) -----Terrell Owens (WR - Dal)
Derrick Mason (WR - Bal) ----- Roy Williams (WR - Det)
Isaac Bruce (WR - STL) ----- Lee Evans (WR - Buf)
Wilie Parker (RB - Pit) ----- Marshawn Lynch (RB - Buf)
Willis McGahee (RB - Bal) ----- Thomas Jones (RB - NYJ)
Dallas Clark (TE - Ind) ----- LJ Smith (TE - Phi)
Adam Vinatieri (K - NE) ----- Jeff Reed (K - Pit)
Dallas (DEF) ----- Indianapolis (DEF)

Carson Palmer killed me yet again. What is going on in Cincinnati? Carson, maybe we need to talk? I can't keep going through this. In two weeks you've gotten me a total of 4.62 points. So with these results in, I made some changes to the roster. I picked up Trent Edwards, J.T. O'Sullivan, and the Tampa Bay D. I dropped Vince Young, Chris Taylor, and Ahman Green. I should have played Santana Moss instead of Roy Williams, because he went off for 25.10 points. Tha Bruthaz were led by Isaac Bruce (15.30 points) who hadn't done anything last week. The Cold Ones lost 65.96 - 82.44.

The rest of the league went as follows:

The Quite Franklies vs They Might Be Giants
Kurt Warner's resurgence as a football player led the Quite Franklies along with Marion 'The Barbarian' Barber. They Might Be Giants struggled to put up a paltry 48 points and were blown out with Big Ben leading the way with 11.44 points. The Quite Franklies win 99.74 - 48.14.

Potomac PimpSlappers vs RDU Saints
The Potomac PimpSlappers got big games from Jason Witten, Nate Keading, and Anthony Gonzalez. The RDU Saints were one of the teams to put up more than 100 points this week getting major contributions from Chris Chambers, Reggie Bush, Frank Gore, and Aaron 'Not Brett Favre' Rodgers. RDU Saints win 107.92 - 74.04.

Silver & Black Rules vs Charlotte Prime Time!
Silver & Black Rules put up a whopping 150+ points. Everyone on their roster scored 10+ points except Chris Cooley who came in with 7.2. Charlotte Prime Time! valiantly hung in there, led by Anquan Boldin and Eli Manning. S&B Rules wins 150.68 - 99.80.

RobBobbyBilly vs Air Raiders
In this week's closest game, RobBobbyBilly snuck one out with the help of Earnest Graham and Greg Jennings. The Air Raiders kep it close with Brandon Marshall, Nick Folk, and Adrian Peterson. RobBobbyBilly wins 92.24 - 86.84.

Techno Raiders vs Big Game Hunter
Clinton Portis tried to keep the Techno Raiders close, but with Ryan Grant and Marvin Harrison not showing up, it hurt. The Big Game Hunter Reggie Wayne, Donald Driver, Jon Kitna, and the Raiders defense (what?). Big Game

There's always next week (that's what I said last week, sigh).

RDU Saints (2-0) vs. Cold Ones (0-2)
Charlotte Prime Time! (0-2) vs. The Quite Franklies (2-0)
They Might Be Giants (0-2) vs. Potomac PimpSlappers (0-2)
Silver & Black Rules (2-0) vs. Air Raiders (0-2)
RobbBobbyBilly (2-0) vs. Big Game Hunter (2-0)
Techno Raiders (1-1) vs. Tha Bruthaz (1-1)

Postponed!!!!

Due to Hurricane Ike, the Ravens vs. Texans game will not be played until November 9, 2008. So, for all of you Fantasy Football guys, you better start looking for options now. Someone please forget to tell my opponent, Tha Bruthaz, that the game is on hold. You can still play McGahee if you want.

Fantasy Football Week 2

Week 2. Redemption. We are coming off a very close game in our Week 1 loss to Big Game Hunter. We had a hard week of practice and we're looking to bring the pain this week. The schedule looks like this :

Tha Bruthaz (0-1) vs. Cold Ones (0-1)
They Might Be Giants (0-1) vs. The Quite Franklies (1-0)
RDU Saints (1-0) vs. Potomac PimpSlappers (0-1)
Silver and Black Rules (1-0) vs. Charlotte PrimeTime! (0-1)
RobbBobbyBilly (1-0) vs. Air Raiders (0-1)
Techno Raiders (1-0) vs. Big Game Hunter (1-0)

My matchup looks pretty good for this week (sigh, again).

Tha Bruthaz vs. Cold Ones

Peyton Maning (QB - Ind) ----- Carson Palmer (QB - Cin)
Torry Holt (WR - STL) -----Terrell Owens (WR - Dal)
Derrick Mason (WR - Bal) ----- Roy Williams (WR - Det)
Isaac Bruce (WR - STL) ----- Lee Evans (WR - Buf)
Wilie Parker (RB - Pit) ----- Marshawn Lynch (RB - Buf)
Willis McGahee (RB - Bal) ----- Thomas Jones (RB - NYJ)
Dallas Clark (TE - Ind) ----- LJ Smith (TE - Phi)
Adam Vinatieri (K - NE) ----- Jeff Reed (K - Pit)
Dallas (DEF) ----- Indianapolis (DEF)

These are all of my front line guys. Really don't think there are too many changes that I can make. I do have to start looking into getting a new backup QB since Vince Young is taking us all through a roller coaster. Vince, on a personal note, get well. If you have any advice for a backup QB, let me know something.

Fantasy Football Week 1 Wrap Up

Not only did my picks suck this week but I got edged out by Big Game Hunter in Week 1 of my Fantasy Football League. I lost 91.98 to 90.66. I'm blaming it on the scoring model, or the commish of our league or something. The matchup is below:

Cold Ones vs Big Game Hunter
Carson Palmer (QB - Cin) ----- Jon Kitna (QB - Det)
Terrell Owens (WR - Dal) ----- Reggie Wayne (WR - Ind)
Roy Williams (WR - Det) ----- Donald Driver (WR - GB)
Lee Evans (WR - Buf) ----- Vincent Jackson (WR - SD)
Marshawn Lynch (RB - Buf) ----- Steven Jackson (RB - STL)
Thomas Jones (RB - NYJ) ----- Michael Turner (RB - ATL)
LJ Smith (TE - Phi) ----- Jeremy Shockey (TE - NO)
Jeff Reed (K - Pitt) ----- Josh Brown (K - STL)
Indianapolis (DEF) ----- Oakland (DEF)

Not only did Carson Palmer lay an egg against Baltimore, but the Colts gave up 29 points to the Bears. I'm going to go out on a limb and say the Bears won't score that many points again this season. Add in that late TD scored by Vincent Jackson against the Panthers and I guess that's where the loss comes from. Cold Ones, practice will be hard this week, I'm putting that out there now.

The rest of the games went accordingly:

Potomac PimpSlappers vs The Quite Franklies
The Quite Franklies in a rout (largest of the week) against the Potomac PimpSlappers, 101.68 to 49.14. This was over when Marion Barber started getting off against Cleveland and the Bears D starting laying the smacketh down on the Colts. It didn't help that the Potomac PimpSlappers lost their starting QB, Tom Brady, for the year.

Silver & Black Rules vs They Might Be Giants
Silver & Black Rules actually played better than the team they represent, by winning a close game 84.40 to 74.18. Brian Westbrook led the S&B Rules to the win while Laveranues Coles failed to show up for the They Might Be Giants team.

RobbBobbyBilly vs Charlotte PrimeTime!
RobbBobbyBilly caught fire as Drew Brees did against the Bucs and led his team to a 80.42 to 60.02 win over the Charlotte PrimeTime! team. Charlotte PrimeTime! really flamed out with no one but Antonio Gates really playing worth anything.

Techno Raiders vs Air Raiders
Another relatively close game with the Techno Raiders winning 88.34 to 64.86 over the Air Raiders. We though this would be a blowout of monumental standards when Donovan McNabb started airing it out like it was a video game and with Hines Ward playing MC Hammer (You can't touch this), but the rest of the team kind of took the week off and the Techno Raiders cruised to victory.

RDU Saints vs Tha Bruthaz
The RDU Saints were doing everything but blessing Tha Bruthaz this week during their matchup, with the RDU Saints winning 104.90 to 64.18. The RDU Saints were led by Frank (not Al) Gore and Reggie Bush. Tha Bruthaz got nothing from Torry Holt, Dallas Clark, and Isaac Bruce.

There's always next week.

Tha Bruthaz (0-1) vs. Cold Ones (0-1)
They Might Be Giants (0-1) vs. The Quite Franklies (1-0)
RDU Saints (1-0) vs. Potomac PimpSlappers (0-1)
Silver and Black Rules (1-0) vs. Charlotte PrimeTime! (0-1)
RobbBobbyBilly (1-0) vs. Air Raiders (0-1)
Techno Raiders (1-0) vs. Big Game Hunter (1-0)

Fantasy Football Week 1

Ok, due to the Thursday night start to the NFL season (more on that later), I have to have my roster in (Cold Ones) before 6pm CST tonight. The schedule for our league for Week 1 looks as follows:
Big Game Hunter vs Cold Ones

Potomac PimpSlappers vs The Quite Franklies

Silver & Black Rules vs They Might Be Giants

RobbBobbyBilly vs Charlotte PrimeTime!

Techno Raiders vs Air Raiders

RDU Saints vs Tha Bruthaz

For my team, going against the Big Game Hunter is a plus since he talks THE most trash in our league. Not only is he French Huguenot, but he's supposedly fast too. The match up looks like this:
Cold Ones vs Big Game Hunter
Carson Palmer (QB - Cin) ----- Jon Kitna (QB - Det)
Terrell Owens (WR - Dal) ----- Reggie Wayne (WR - Ind)
Roy Williams (WR - Det) ----- Donald Driver (WR - GB)
Lee Evans (WR - Buf) ----- Vincent Jackson (WR - SD)
Marshawn Lynch (RB - Buf) ----- Steven Jackson (RB - STL)
Thomas Jones (RB - NYJ) ----- Michael Turner (RB - ATL)
LJ Smith (TE - Phi) ----- Jeremy Shockey (TE - NO)
Jeff Reed (K - Pitt) ----- Josh Brown (K - STL)
Indianapolis (DEF) ----- Oakland (DEF)

So right now I'm feeling pretty good about my chances as this should be a close game. I'm hoping that Carson Palmer steps it up and plays well against Baltimore. If you got any suggestions to change my lineup, let me know. I have Rashard Mendenhall, Ronald Curry, Santa Moss, Vince Young, Devery Henderson, Ahman Green, and Chris Taylor on the bench (I think you understand why I have the guys above as starters. The Cold Ones are looking to start the season off 1-0. Big Game Hunter prepare to be hunted.

Fantasy Football Draft

Well, it went down last night at 6:30pm CST. Our Fantasy Football draft, which for me was ruined with a work conference call, but nevertheless, it was fun. We have 12 teams in our league and the competition is fierce. The winner each year gets his name on the plaque and holds the plaque for a year until it's relinquished. I've had my name on the plaque just once, but I feel that this year could change that. Here's my team (not listed in order):

Carson Palmer, Vince Young, Terrell Owens, Roy Williams, Lee Evans, Marshawn Lynch, Thomas Jones, Rashard Mendenhall, LJ Smith, Ronald Curry, Santana Moss, Devery Henderson, Ahman Green, Jeff Reed, Redskins DEF, and Jets DEF.

Each week we play the following lineups: QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, TE, K, DEF. Since we have 12 people the later rounds are by far the most interesting. You get to see who has done their homework and who hasn't. I think my team is pretty good, although lacking in the TE and all of my hopes are riding on Carson Palmer playing somewhat well.

Each week, I'll post the results from my game and I'll also list the matchups. Who knows, maybe you guys can make some suggestions to help me get some wins.
