NFL Week 10 Wrap Up

I know, I know, all of this is a little late, but the day job has been taking over my time lately. So, here we go to see how well I did this week. I will start off by saying one thing, on 4th and goal for the game you call THAT play?

Denver @ Cleveland - Great start to the Brady Quinn era. Quinn looked great and seemed to have something going with Kellen Winslow until he started dropping balls, fumbling balls, and just a terribly great game (meaning he had lots of ups, but the downs end up costing the Browns the game). Brandon Marshall seemed to be able to shake off all of the Joey Porter comments and Jay Cutler looked like Elway for once in his career. Denver won this close one and I'm still not sure how they did it. Inquisitive Mind 0 - 1 for the week.

New Orleans @ Atlanta - The Falcons defense showed up and played well. Good for me since I had them in fantasy league, but the star of the game was again Matt Ryan. I guess this guy is good? Ryan had an efficient (16 of 23 for 248 yards, and 2 TDs) outing with Michael Turner also doing his work on the ground. Maybe the Falcons finally got it right. Michael Vick who? Inquisitive Mind 1 - 1 for the week.

Tennessee @ Chicago - Talk about a game that I never thought was going to be close. The Bears made this a game with some stops from their defense, and some good play from the backup Rex Grossman. That only lasted a short time (as usual) and the Bears weren't able to close the deal in Chicago. The Bears defense was able to stop the Titans running game (20 yards for the game), but Kerry Collins was able to get 289 yards in the air. Inquisitive Mind 2 - 1 for the week.

Jacksonville @ Detroit - Welcome home Daunte Culpepper. This is what you have to get used to. The Jaguars had a balanced attack (air and ground) and Maurice Jones-Drew got 3 TDs on the ground. The Lions QB tandem of Culpepper and Stanton combined for 153 yards, 1 TD, and 1 INT. Not bad if you're a rookie. Inquisitive Mind 3 - 1 for the week.

Seattle @ Miami - This game was closer than I thought, but each team tried to lose this game. Ricky Williams and not Ronnie Brown led the Dolphins on the ground with 105 yards and 1 TD. A deflected 2 point attempt sealed the game for the Dolphins who won when I picked them. Whoo hoo. Inquisitive Mind 4 - 1 for the week.

Green Bay @ Minnesota - The Vikings almost gave this game away with 3 INTs. That's what it really came down to, QB play. Adrian Peterson had 30 carries for 192 and 1 TD. But Gus Frerotte had a terrible day, 15 of 28 for 151 yards, 2 TDs, and those picks. The Vikings defense is just that good that Frerotte can be Seneca Wallace and they win going away. Inquisitive Mind 4 - 2 for the week.

Buffalo @ New England - It's officially over for the Bills. This was it, the line in the sand has been drawn and the Bills couldn't even get to it. All I have to say is 158 total yards for that offense, not going to win too many games like that. Not picking the Bills anymore, unless they play the Bengals or someone. Inquisitive Mind 5 - 2 for the week.

St. Louis @ New York Jets - Wow!!! 47 points? You're kidding me? The Jets took the Rams out to pasture and we don't know what happened to the Rams after that. Thomas Jones had a great game with 26 carries for 149 yards and 3 TDs. Brett Favre didn't even have to be that good in this game and they blow out the Rams. Inquisitive Mind 6 - 2 for the week.

Baltimore @ Houston - I said this would be bad, but even I couldn't picture 41 points out of the Ravens. Things happen when Sage Rosenfels is the opposing QB and your defense is one of the better ones in the league. Everything went well for the Ravens from Flacco's day (15 of 23 for 185 yards and 2 TDs), Troy Smith's perfect QB rating for the game, Ray Lewis' 2 INTs, and Willis McGahee's ground game (25 carries for 112 yards and 2 TDs). Inquisitive Mind 7 - 2 for the week.

Carolina @ Oakland - Even after picking Jake Delhomme four times, the Raiders still had no chance at winning this game. That says it all. Inquisitive Mind 8 - 2 for the week.

Indianapolis @ Pittsburgh - Manning did it again. He led his team down the field for the winning score and it looked like it was last year. This game was ugly as both defenses did their fair share of hitting. The Steelers looked a little tired, except for Mewelde Moore who seemed to score his 2 TDs on 3 yards rushing or less. Inquisitive Mind 8 - 3 for the week.

Kansas City @ San Diego - Again? What's wrong with the Chargers? They play this Chiefs team that is 4 players away from a little league team, but the Chargers almost lost this game. I mean with 23 seconds on the clock they should have lost this game. I'm officially putting the nail in the Chargers' coffin too (along with the Bills). Tyler Thigpen looked great with his 266 yards and 3 TDs, while Phillip Rivers (where is Drew Brees when you need him?) sucked it up with his 316 yards, 2 TDs, and 2 INTs. Inquisitive Mind 9 - 3 for the week.

New York Giants @ Philadelphia - Aaaarrrghh!!!! My Eagles, almost pulled this off. The Giants are still cream of the crop in the NFC East. I don't trust Manning, but that running game is outstanding. Each defense stepped up at times, but the Eagles couldn't get that one stop when they need to. There's always next week. Inquisitive Mind 9 - 4 for the week.

San Francisco @ Arizona - Have you ever rooted for a team that you picked against? Last night I found myself in that conundrum. I wanted the 49ers to win that game last night. They needed a win for their coach and their team. But, they couldn't stop a 72 year old quarterback (well, really 37), as Kurt Warner furthered his argument of being the MVP this year with his 328 yards and 3 TDs. For the 49ers, my only question is, on 4th and goal for the game you run a dive with your full back from 3 yards out?!?!?!?!? Are you kidding me? Are you wondering why you lost that game? You wouldn't even call that on Madden. I would have rather seen 5 wide receivers or something. The 49ers have to learn how to win, hopefully this was a lesson they learned last night. Not only the players but the offensive coordinator also. Inquisitive Mind 10 - 4 for the week.
