NFL Week 11 Wrap Up

This may be the week, right? The one where we get all the picks right. I can always hope.

New York Jets @ New England Patriots - This had to be the best game the Jets played and the worst game that they have played all rolled into one. The Jets offense looked good against that Patriots defense and they were able to stick to their game plan and run the ball, which opened lots of things for Brett Favre. Dustin Keller looked like Tony Gonzalez out there. Then the worst thing happened, the Jets started letting off the gas. WHY?!?!? You're beating this team and someone starts calling in running plays, just for fun to keep the clock ticking. Whoever created the 'Prevent' defense should never be allowed to coach in any league ever again. The Jets manned up against the Pats last night and beat the living mess out of Randy Moss the ENTIRE game except the one play where he posted up Ty Law in the end zone for the tying TD. The Jets better be glad they won because they almost gave that one away. Inquisitive Mind 1 - 0 for the week.

Denver @ Atlanta - Man, what a good game and I the Broncos came out on top. Cutler had a decent game (19 of 27 for 216 yards and 1 TD), but this really came down to the Falcons defense not being able to get off the field. Inquisitive Mind 1 - 1 for the week.

Philadelphia @ Cincinnati - Are you kidding me? Really, this is the final score? There hasn't been a tie in the NFL for YEARS!!! Then to make it worse, a team that claimed they were going to be great this season puts up a stinker against the Bengals WITH Ryan Fitzpatrick as their starting QB? This is sad. Donovan should have just handed the ball to the Bengals when he was on the field and just let his defense play the entire game. All I have to say is 4 turnovers by McNabb. I think I just threw up in my mouth. This is sick. Inquisitive Mind 1 - 1 - 1 for the week.

Chicago @ Green Bay - Why do you put a hobbled Kyle Orton on the field against the Packers in Green Bay?!?!?!? (silence) Orton wasn't ready to play and it looked as if the Bears defense wasn't ready to play either. They must have partied too much the night before the game because they couldn't stop the run (Ryan Grant, 25 carries 145 yards and 1 TD), or the pass (Aaron Rodgers, 23 of 30 for 227, 2 TDs, and 1 INT). Now there's a 3 way tie for first in the division between the Vikings, Bears, and Packers. Inquisitive Mind 2 -1 - 1 for the week.

Houston @ Indianapolis - Peyton Manning led the Colts to victory in this one and had to hold on at the end to escape the rather game Texans. The Texans were able to run all over the Colts (Steve Slaton, 14 carries for 156 yards, 1 TD) and kept the Colts defense on their toes. At the end of the game, it came down to an errant throw by Sage Rosenfels (who in the world was he trying to get that ball to?) that sealed the deal for the Colts. Inquisitive Mind 3 - 1 - 1 for the week.
New Orleans @ Kansas City - This was one of my spoilers and the Chiefs let me down. I thought a rejuvenated running game would help Tyler Thigpen (who had a decent game, (19 of 38 for 235 yards, 2 TDs, and 1 INT) but the Chiefs couldn't make two stops that they needed to win this game. Drew Brees had another good day (25 of 36 for 266 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT) on his quest to throw for 5000 yards in one season. Inquisitive Mind 3 - 2 - 1 for the week.

Oakland @ Miami - Talk about a game that was a lot closer than I ever thought it would be. This was a brutal game to watch, and the real highlight was the game winning field goal by Dan Carpenter. That's it folks. No need to TIVO of DVR this one, that was the lone highlight. Inquisitive Mind 4 - 2 - 1 for the week.

Baltimore @ New York Giants - The Giants opened a can of butt whuppin and that's about it. The Ravens were the #1 run defense in the NFL and the Giants ran all over them (207 yards and that includes a total of -3 for Eli Manning). The Ravens made a game of it, but they were outmatched in this one to begin with. Inquisitive Mind 5 - 2 - 1 for the week.

Minnesota @ Tampa Bay - The Bucs have a formula, win with defense and it seems to continue to work for them. Their smallish front 4 was able to contain Adrian Peterson to 85 yards and they beat the Vikings. The Bucs defense had 5 sacks and caused 3 fumbles and won the battle of field position. They eeked out this win, but they stand at 7-3 in the NFC and they are in a pretty good spot to get some home field love during the playoffs. Inquisitive Mind 6 - 2 - 1 for the week.

Detroit @ Carolina - This game really bothers me. The lone highlight from the Lions was Kevin Smith getting 112 yards (on 24 carries) but yet this was a 9 point game. Daunte Culpepper had a terrible outing (20 of 35 for 207 yards, 1 TD, 2 INTs) and the Detroit defense played a hell of a game to keep it this close. The Panthers should have dominated this game but they didn't. Julius Peppers continued his torrid pace of sacks (5 in the last two games) to get him to his new pay check (he's a free agent at the end of the year). Inquisitive Mind 7 - 2 - 1 for the week.

St. Louis @ San Francisco - Finally a win for the 49ers under Mike Singletary. This was really a gimme with the Rams coming to San Fran. With that said, the 49ers played well on both sides of the ball and came away with a blowout. I wonder what Mike did in the locker room after this one? Inquisitive Mind 8 - 2 - 1 for the week.

Arizona @ Seattle - Matt Hasselbeck still looked like he needed another week to get his sea legs as he went 17 of 29 for 170 yards, 1TD and 3 INTs. Kurt Warner looked like he was still playing in St. Louis (when they were good) with his 395 yards rushing. The game was closer than I expected, but the Cardinals went to that magic 7-3 number. Inquisitive Mind 9 - 2 - 1 for the week.

San Diego @ Pittsburgh - I said the Steelers would win this game, but I can really on ly look at how far the Chargers have fallen. The Chargers amassed 213 yards of total offense. I just can't believe that. I know that there was snow on the ground and I know the field sucked, but are you kidding me, 213? Daunte Culpepper almost had 213 and he's just learning a new offense. This is just sad to watch. The Chargers are done for the year, the only thing they can play for now is being a spoiler. Inquisitive Mind 10 - 2 - 1 for the week.

Tenessee @ Jacksonville - This was it. It was halftime and the Jaguars were up 14-3 and the Titans looked confused and had not even converted on a 3rd down the entire half. This one is in the bag. I look brilliant for calling this game for the Jaguars. Let me watch some other games for a little bit (turning channel). (Flipping back to this game) WTF?!?!?!? Justin Gage. A Bears castoff, and he's killing me? The Titans found a way to win and they seem to do that every week. Kerry Collins looked very Trent Dilfer-ish in managing a game and then putting it on the line when need be. Gage caught not 1, but 2 TDs in the second half and they ran away from the Jaguars. Inquisitive Mind 10 - 3 - 1 for the week.

Dallas @ Washington - Arrrrrghhh!!!! Maybe you're wondering why I started like that when I picked the Cowboys, but the Redskins did it again. Whether it's faulty play calling, bad helmets, or whatever, this game was there for the Redskins to have won. I figured it would have been a blowout, but I get a 14-10 game? This sucks. (I made a trade for Jason Campbell in fantasy, that may have something to do with it). The longest pass the Redskins could make was a screen pass? Are you kidding me? You aren't going to win like that. There are college teams that can make you pay for play calling like that. Portis did show us how tough he was by playing (15 carries for 68 yards) but it was Marion 'The Barbarian' Barber that stole the show. Barber had all the running yards for the Cowboys in the 4th quarter as he ran through, by, and over the Redskins defense. He ended the game with 24 carries for 114 yards and 1 TD and the happiest dive for a first down that I've seen in a while. Both teams are 6-4 now. The NFC East is still up for grabs. Inquisitive Mind 11 - 3 - 1 for the week.

Cleveland @ Buffalo - They just suck. That's it, they just suck!!!! The Bills couldn't get a win last night because they,.....suck doesn't even explain it. Marshawn Lynch finally has a good game, but Trent Edwards has 3 INTs in the first few minutes of the game. He did bounce back, but they basically played a wounded (if only mentally) Browns team in Buffalo and gave the game away. That 5-1 start had me thinking that they were going to do something in the AFC East, but now it's the Jets' to lose. They messed up my week. Inquisitive Mind 11 - 4 - 1 for the week.
